During the vacation, guests are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and refill it with drinking water rather than purchasing water in single-use plastic bottles. Leave No Trace principles are followed throughout the vacation, and campsites and trails are left clean after use.
Clean-up activities are also organised along trekking routes and local rivers.
On treks, reusable cloth bags are used for snacks instead of individual plastic bags. Biodegradable soap and dishwashing liquid are used during trekking activities.

At our offices in the UK, printing is limited and recyclable materials are recycled where possible.

People

In the Salar region, accommodation is provided, where possible, at community-run hotels, with profits retained by the communities to provide additional local income. Local staff are employed at the hotels.
Guides provide information about local customs and cultures and explain how communities in remote areas live and make their livelihoods. They also aim to present Bolivian culture accurately and respectfully to visitors.
For all treks, fresh local produce is purchased where possible, with local products preferred to imported alternatives. This also supports the use of locally produced ingredients in the organisation's cooking.
Locally owned hotels are preferred where possible instead of large international hotel chains, helping to retain tourism expenditure within Bolivia.
Porters and donkey drivers are recruited locally from the areas in which the treks take place. They carry a maximum load of 20 kg and are provided with tents and food.
