Vacation information

OUR SKIPPERS:
Your skipper on this trip will be world-leading, there to provide expert instruction and support, helping you actively participate and grow your sailing skills. From a world record-breaking skipper, a Golden Globe entrant or a multi-time circumnavigator - our Skippers have over 1.5 million ocean miles between them.
LIFE ON BOARD:
This is an adventure, and it should be fun! Our skippers are patient, passionate about ocean life, and dedicated to ensuring you feel relaxed and enjoy the entire experience. With small group sizes, you will quickly get to know your crewmates—many of whom remain friends long after the trip ends.
DO I NEED SAILING EXPERIENCE:
We design our trips for a wide range of experience which means that even if you’ve not sailed, our experienced Skippers will ensure you have a fantastic time. Before you join, we’ll ask about your previous sailing experience and what you want to get out of the trip. That way, we’ll tailor the tour to your specific needs.
KIT LIST:
We provide a recommended kit list well in advance of your adventure, ensuring you're fully prepared. Life-jackets and all safety equipment are supplied, and we also offer 'foul weather gear' available to borrow if needed.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Planet: Sailing Sustainably

We're passionate about exploring the ocean in the most sustainable way possible. That means taking real, measurable action to reduce our carbon footprint and protect the marine environments we sail through.

Carbon Reduction: Measured & Managed

In 2023, we developed a custom tool to measure the CO2 footprint of every trip we run—becoming the first sailing operator in the world to do so. This tool helps us—and now others in the sailing community—understand where emissions come from and where we can make the biggest improvements.

We’re actively addressing this by:
Trialling biofuels as a cleaner alternative to diesel
Launching sea trials in 2025 for our new, 100% electric yacht, custom-designed for zero fossil fuel use

Sourcing Locally, Supporting Communities
For our Indian Ocean trips, we source food locally wherever possible, supporting island-based producers and reducing transport emissions. It’s better for the planet—and the plate.

Protecting Environment & Wildlife
We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact by over 90% within the next 18 months. This is made possible by:
Our new fossil-free yacht, built to our own sustainability-focused design Launch date June 2026
Ongoing monitoring of carbon emissions across the full yacht lifecycle—from build to voyages

Award-Winning Sustainability
In 2024, we were honoured to receive the LuxLife Marine Tourism Award for:
“Global Sustainability Champion 2024”

We’re proud to be leading the way in sustainable adventure sailing—and even prouder to share the journey with conscious travelers like you.

People

Supporting the Local Economy
We believe that sustainable travel also means supporting the people and communities we visit.

Throughout our Indian Ocean adventures, many of the destinations are small, remote island communities. We make a conscious effort to buy locally and encourage our crew and guests to spend time ashore—helping local businesses thrive while ensuring our guests enjoy authentic, enriching experiences.
Employment, Inclusivity & Diversity

A key part of our mission is to make sailing more accessible—to open the ocean to people who may not otherwise have the means or confidence to step aboard.

That’s why we launched Open Oceans, our award-winning inclusivity programme, in 2023. This initiative offers fully funded places on our adventures to individuals from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds.

The first Open Oceans recipient joined a Scottish sailing adventure in 2023.
In 2025, we’ll welcome three recipients, one per leg, on our Indian Ocean expedition.
By removing barriers to participation, we’re helping to grow a more diverse, inclusive, and connected sailing community.

Tailored, Award-Winning Experiences
Every trip is tailor-made. Before we depart, we take the time to learn what each guest is hoping for—whether it’s hands-on sailing, quiet moments at sea, or island exploration.

We then shape the trip to suit those goals—creating deeply personal and rewarding experiences.
This commitment to personalised adventure has earned us recognition, including:
Best Adventure Sailing Operator – UK, 2023
Shortlisted for the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards 2024, for our innovation and inclusivity.
