CARBON REDUCTION
Sailing is at the heart of this trip, so once guests arrive in the British Virgin Islands, most of the journey between islands is by catamaran rather than by road or internal flights. We do not use domestic flights as part of the itinerary, and the boat serves as our main form of transport throughout the trip.
Human-powered activities are an important part of the vacation and may include swimming, snorkeling, beach walks and exploring island communities on foot. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the islands at a slower pace rather than relying on vehicle-based sightseeing.
Breakfasts and lunches are prepared aboard, and we aim to purchase fresh and locally available food where practical. Vegetarian options are available, and guests are encouraged to let us know about dietary preferences in advance.
Guests are also encouraged to make lower-impact choices when planning their journey to the BVI, including comparing flight emissions where possible and combining the sailing trip with a longer stay rather than taking multiple short trips.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The trip is designed around small-group sailing and respect for the marine environment. Guests are encouraged to reduce single-use plastics, use refillable water bottles, dispose of waste responsibly and leave beaches, anchorages and coastal areas as they found them.
We encourage responsible interaction with nature and wildlife. Guests are asked not to touch coral, disturb marine life, feed wildlife or remove shells, plants or other natural materials. Reef-safe sunscreen is strongly encouraged to help reduce harm to coral reefs and marine ecosystems.
Snorkeling is focused on observation rather than interaction. We aim to follow local guidance around reefs, anchorages and sensitive marine areas, and our itinerary remains flexible so we can respond to weather, sea conditions and local restrictions.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY
A major part of this trip is spending locally. Guests dine ashore and visit locally owned restaurants, beach bars, shops, marinas and small businesses on islands such as Tortola, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda.
Stops may include places such as Cane Garden Bay, White Bay, Leverick Bay, Saba Rock and Bitter End, giving guests opportunities to spend money directly within island communities.
Where practical, we use local suppliers, transport providers and independent businesses. Our small-group format helps spread spending among local businesses and encourages guests to engage more directly with the people and communities of the BVI.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
The trip is hosted by an experienced female captain and is especially welcoming to solo travelers, including women traveling independently. Many guests are in their 40s, 50s and beyond, and the atmosphere is designed to be friendly, respectful and inclusive.
The trip is LGBTQ+ friendly and open to adults of all backgrounds, regardless of gender, race, nationality or sexual orientation. Guests are welcome whether traveling alone, as a couple or with a friend.
Because this is an active sailing vacation, guests need to be able to board the catamaran and move around on deck, steps and uneven surfaces. Travelers with mobility, hearing, vision or other accessibility needs are encouraged to discuss their requirements before booking so we can explain what is realistically manageable on the boat and itinerary.
