1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Korcula was the most stunning place, though the whole cruise was delightful. M/S Markan a fabulous ship with great crew. Great memories all round.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Be prepared for excellent 4 course meals!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. 1. The itinerary included visits to two kobonas, one for a wine tasting and the other for peka. These traditional tavernas use local ingredients and methods, if they don't produce butter locally its not on the menu. Other kobonos were recommended for meals not included. 2. They donate to Downs Syndrome centers in Croatia for each guest. 3. We visited a farm where donkeys, including once endangered Dalmation donkeys, are bred and produce milk which is good for those allergic to cows milk. 4. Guests are encouraged to save water and respect the environment. 5. Guests are signposted to locally made authentic souvenirs.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Top class itinerary and service delivery. I cannot praise the staff, NB Minja our cruise manager, and crew of M/S Markan highly enough.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

I felt like a millionaire traveling in a super yacht.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Book it

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I sure it benefited the local shops & restaurants but can't see how it reduced environmental impact.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Fantastic, but I thought David our guide lacked enthusiasm, he did his job and that was it. I think he would be better off in his music career. Minya on the other hand was so enthusiastic, jolly and caring. Having said that the whole vacation was seamless and wonderfull.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Everything was fabulous! We had such fun! The boat is beautiful. Lovely cabin. Amazing food and staff. Really wonderful itinerary. Met and enjoyed the company of new people from all over the world. A rich experience.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Take more money in cash!! It's more of a cash society than we thought and we had to resort to cashpoint withdrawals with bad rates etc. That was a bit stressful! Take layers! Can be chilly in the wind early in the season.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Tourism generally is huge in Croatia which supports local people in jobs and benefits the economy.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Fabulous

review 5 May 2025

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Excellent ship and outstanding guide. Only 25 passengers provided an excellent environment.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Go early in the season before the cruise ships take over.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Only in the sense that Croatia seems overwhelmingly dependent on tourism.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Cruise was excellent. Extension was interesting, but spoilt by being buried in humanity from very large cruise ships.

review 15 Jun 2025

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Company of other passengers. Some parts of longer cruising.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

A lot depends on other passengers and similar ages. Always ask what drinks you pay for and price, as other similar boats using same tours and Beth’s can be busier than you might expect.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Not sure boats that boats are environmental friendly.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Enjoyable. Have to like communal living, a bit pot luck.

Hello Mr Whitehouse, and thank you for your review and positive comments, we rely on our clients to provide feedback to help us monitor how the cruises are performing. The vessels are diesel powered but there are currently no better options - Once the technology and infrastructure exists to switch to electricity the vessels won't be far behind. And there are several benefits to using small ships. Our small vessels only cruise a short distance each day as they can access the small ports and harbours we use, larger ships cruise many more times the distance, often over night. Additionally, as tourism is so important to the small islands, without the small ships providing flexible accommodation there would either be a lot more building (hotels) or much more pressure on local accommodation that the population of the islands relies upon. A big part of 'Responsible Tourism' is to provide and share the economic benefits of tourism with the community we are visiting. These small ships in Croatia are purely owned, operated and crewed by Croatians, providing a strong source of employment. Additionally by encouraging our clients to eat ashore every night we are hoping to support the small restaurants, who in turn purchase or even grow all their produce locally. You are correct that many of the small ports and islands are reliant on tourism to provide an income, but we see this as a positive benefit as without this the small islands we are visiting would have many fewer options for employment and income generation. And the fact that the local economy benefits so much from tourism means that the beautiful towns are well preserved, the local rural economy and the traditional practices that they use are preserved and the local environment, so important to the tourism industry, is kept as pristine as possible. If you visit some destinations in the Mediterranean that don't benefit from this kind of tourism you may well find run down towns, more unemployment and a less than pristine environment.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The whole thing was memorable and exciting. We loved the boat, Meridijan, the crew, the guide, the scenery of Croatia, the sea swimming, the food, our fellow guests, the Croatian people….. everything. It was the best vacation ever. High points, basking in the sun on the top deck while cruising through the National Park islands.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Come with an open mind, look for the best things, and accept what is. Our boat wasn’t the most luxurious, but all the guests agreed it was the most comfortable of the fleet and felt like home from home.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, the vacation provides work and income for local people, the environmental impact was small, and we saw a lot from the boat without disturbing wildlife.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Brilliant! Exceptional!

review 3 Jul 2016

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

It was a fantastic experience. The boat was beautiful, the service and food first class and it was such a good way to see the islands. We loved swimming from the back of the boat too.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The upper deck cabins are worth the extra money. Make sure you take Kuna as euros are not widely accepted on the islands. Make sure you get as much information as possible about which boat you will be on etc as it is pretty chaotic at Split harbour. We felt we were well informed but met several other travelers who were not given such clear information.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. We had local guides at all our stops and plenty of opportunity to eat, drink and spend money locally at each stop.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was fantastic. We met some lovely people and had some great experiences.
