The elephant care trip is not as hands on or busy. The experience was certainly more focused on individual education of animal exploitation as it was apparent there were a lot of breaks and tasks that could have been done by paid staff but were given to volunteers so they had things to do.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Five stars for Soi Dog- very hands on and I felt that my presence made a huge difference! Three stars for elephant care at WFFT- I felt like I was not needed even though I did learn a lot.Read the operator's response here:

It's good to hear about your experience at both projects and the differences between them. I'm sorry that you felt that you were a bit under-utilised at the
Elephant project, there is usually always a lot of work to be done there and volunteers are an essential resource, the elephants would not get the same level of care and attention without the time and effort from volunteers. It's definitely a busy environment at the dog rescue project, with over 1300 dogs to be walked daily!
