Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
We believe in keeping beautiful places beautiful. On this Malaysia itinerary, you’ll stay in small-scale, locally owned hotels and guesthouses that are chosen for their low-impact approach and close connection to their surroundings. From heritage stays in places like Malacca to nature-based lodges near Taman Negara and the coast, many of the properties have measures in place to reduce water and energy use and manage waste more carefully.Your experiences are designed with nature in mind too. Exploring the ancient rainforest of Taman Negara, traveling by bike in rural areas and spending time by the sea on the Perhentian Islands encourages a slower pace and a closer connection to Malaysia’s landscapes. Where possible, we use shared or lower-impact transport and prioritise activities that rely on people power rather than heavy infrastructure. Park fees and conservation charges included in your trip help support the protection of these important natural areas. Animal welfare is also central to our approach: we only work with wildlife experiences that are ethical, conservation-focused and avoid any form of animal exploitation
Before you travel, we share practical guidance on reducing waste, respecting wildlife and making thoughtful choices on the road. Back in the UK, our Brighton-based team works from a B-Corp-certified office, operates largely paper-free and partners with Earthly to support nature-based projects that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods. A small contribution is included in every itinerary, helping protect the environments that make journeys through Malaysia so special.
People
People are at the heart of this Malaysia family trip. You’ll stay in small, locally owned hotels and characterful guesthouses, eat at family-run cafés and stalls, and explore with experienced local guides who bring each place to life. From cycling through rural villages near Malacca and heading into the rainforest with jungle guides in Taman Negara to learning about tea growing in the Cameron Highlands, your experiences directly support local families, small businesses and traditional livelihoods. We work closely with in-country partners based in Malaysia who help shape each itinerary from the ground up. Their local knowledge allows us to move beyond overused routes, reduce pressure on busy hotspots and create more meaningful, community-focused experiences. This approach also supports the local economy long before you arrive, as local teams are involved in planning and operations.
We prioritise fair employment, long-term partnerships and locally owned excursion providers wherever possible, helping tourism income remain within Malaysian communities. By choosing neighbourhood restaurants, local boat operators, village guides and small-scale producers throughout the journey, your trip contributes to everyday livelihoods across both cities and rural areas.
