Indonesia tour, Kalimantan, Komodo & Bali
Carbon reduction
Your vacation will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this vacation and how to reduce them.
Environment
The park fees paid to enter Tanjun Putting National Park and Komodo help to preserve and protect the environment and its wildlife and goes towards its upkeep to ensure future generations will be able to visit.
This trip includes the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre at Camp Leakey. Your visit helps to fund the vital work of the center which strives to protect Orangutans which are currently listed as highly endangered. During your trip you will learn more about the work and see these animals in their natural environment.
While in the national park you will also visit a reforestation program which is working to restore the jungle through a tree planting program and your visit will help to continue their important work.
Our Ground Agents are very much aware of the environmental impact of tourism and their offices use only recycled paper and all office waste is recycled where possible. Energy saving lighting is used and air-conditioners are switched off between noon and 1pm every day. As with their community work, our Ground Agents also work closely with R.O.L.E to help prevent environmental degradation and are involved in activities such as beach cleaning and environmental awareness training events.
Community
We only work with responsible ground agents, and in Indonesia our Ground Agents live and work in the country and recognise that it is their home. They have fully committed to ‘giving back’ to ensure an improving quality of life for their local communities. They provide local villages with the tools to help improve education along witch social services, assistance programs and structural developments, although any building work is carefully considered to minimise its impact on the natural environment.
They also support local charities and focus in particular on the R.O.L.E foundation in Indonesia. R.O.L.E focuses on empowering underprivileged women by giving them the education, skills and job opportunities they need to create a living. They do this through sending them on a subsidised training courses which include learning English, women’s health, IT and hospitality focused kills, or creating small, sustainable businesses which benefit the local communities and the women who run them.
