Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

As an operator of such a small vessel, and one that relies completely on tourism for a livelihood, we understand very well the importance of keeping our environment as pristine as possible. Anything that detracts from the Maldives reputation as a haven for marine wildlife and a place of outstanding beauty would immediately affect our bottom line.

On board, we’ve taken several steps to minimize our environmental impact.

We also regularly organize beach clean-ups in collaboration with local communities and NGOs, helping to keep our beautiful islands and marine environments free from plastic waste and other pollutants.

In addition, we’re excited to announce that we will soon be launching our coral restoration program. This initiative aims to support the regeneration of damaged reef areas by planting coral fragments and working closely with marine biologists and conservation groups. It’s our way of giving back to the ocean that gives us so much.

We have installed water dispensers to reduce single-use plastic bottles and encourage guests to refill reusable bottles throughout their stay.

People

Our vessel is one of the smallest operating in the Maldives, so we can visit some places few other vessels can, whilst minimising our footprint on these fragile islands. All of the crew are from the Maldives, and the vessel is locally owned, providing a vital income to these remote islands that really rely on tourism for their livelihood.

Almost all of the food that we consume on board is grown, produced or caught locally, supporting local small scale producers and reducing food miles.

Tourism forms a huge part of the Maldives economy, contributing 30-50% by some estimates. By providing accommodation on board we are negating the need for resource rich and expensive hotels ashore that require precious resources to build.
Our guides will provide briefing on how best to respect local cultural customs and sensibilities. Additionally we hope our travelers will pick up a little Dhivehi (the local language) during and before their travels so they can at least master a few words of greeting and thanks that are so much appreciated by Maldivians.
