Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

Waste: When going on our tours to the Galapagos and the amazon we have strict conditions on how people visit these places. The tours to Galapagos also have strict rules on how to control pollution since is a national park that is strongly regulated from the moment you are in the plane to Galapagos. That means that all of our guests that come on this tour will have to adapt to certain strict criteria on how to control waste.

As soon as our guests arrive in the Galapagos islands, certain instructions will be given to them so that they also learn how to behave and respect these beautiful places and its environment. The Galapagos has recently become an area where single use plastics are forbidden. We provide our guests with reusable water bottles for their water needs.

Suppliers: The suppliers we work with in the Galapagos Islands are committed to protecting the delicate environment and share their modus operandi with our clients who have to adhere to strict rules and regulations of the Islands.

Transport: The transportation in the Galapagos is designed and regulated by the National Park in a way that reduces the emission of carbon as much as possible. One clear example of this is the fact that there are only limited departure boats between Islands. The number of boats that go from one island to the other is regulated by the National Park. Since the boats are the main sources of pollution, then it is the best way to avoid contamination by having limited boats and limited departures. This can complicate things a bit for our guests in that sometimes they want to go at different times but then we always explain the reasons why these measures are there and how this contributes to the preservation of these beautiful islands.

Diving: Diving in the Galapagos is operated by local professional companies who explain all the safety instructions to the clients and explain the strict rules and regulations regarding diving in the Galapagos. No touching the sea life, no feeding the sea life, no flash photography. You will always have an experienced and professional diver with you and a crew. All divers are locals and they have a vast experience diving in the Galapagos and have all the necessary know-how of all the diving sites. For more protection and security all crew and clients are insured by the diving company´s comprehensive insurance.

People

Volunteering & charity: We support local projects & people through volunteering, fundraising or charity. As a company, we have a project in which we support a local volunteering organisation in the poor area of Quito. This organisation contributes by creating sports activities, giving English lessons and also by supporting young children that are in need of extra activities but do not have the resources for it. What our company does is donate 1% of our direct sales to this organisation so that they can have some resources to administrate the organisation. Apart from this we also organise an event with the organisation and the kids once a year.

Friends & neighbors: The people that work with us at for the Andes part of the trip are local people who know how and where to find all things local. We support and promote the use of local restaurants and hire local people to the hotels that we use as well as for the activities of our tours. Every time we take our guest to the Andes, we always offer lunch for them and we do so in local restaurants that we know have a good quality service but also delicious food. We try to make sure we support the people that make us feel welcome and therefore we promote a better service in the tourism sector. In this way, tourism becomes one of the main sources of development in the Island and that is how with every traveler we contribute to this unique place in the world.
