Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Carbon ReductionAs a travel company we're acutely aware of our impact on the environment. Each one of our tours displays a carbon footprint, and we're working to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our itineraries and embracing lower-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking – which aren't just better for the planet, but we believe offer a more enjoyable and authentic travel experience too. We're a Certified B Corp that's committed to creating unforgettable adventures while protecting our planet for future generations.
The itinerary has been rerouted on day 4 with the intention to save carbon. We don't retrace our steps going back to Amman for a third night but stay overnight in Madaba instead.
Jordanian cuisine offers an array of vegetarian options which you can enjoy on a daily basis, even at breakfast. Fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, falafels, hummus, baba ghanoush and tabbouleh to name a few.
Environment and Wildlife
We are working with our local suppliers in Jordan to conserve water in the fragile desert environment. We advise customers to save natural resources and encourage them to have showers rather than baths and by not letting a tap run unnecessarily. In addition we encourage taking laundry home if possible rather than doing it locally. As there is no recycling in this area our clients are encouraged to carry water purification filters and water bottles, details of how to obtain the former are provided before departure. We also offer water tanks on all our transfers so that customers can refill their bottles while we are on the go. Although not necessarily known for its nature and wildlife, Jordan offers a surprisingly rich diversity of animal and plant species. There are also many conservation efforts in place to combat issues such as deforestation and over-hunting that pose threats to the natural landscapes as well as the animals of Jordan. When visiting sensitive areas like nature reserves we ask visitors to maintain appropriate distances from wildlife, stay on trails to avoid trampling plants or causing erosion. While snorkelling we encourage clients to protect themselves from the sun by wearing a t-shirt rather than sunscreen which can harm the fragile reefs. The camp we use in Wadi Rum uses solar panels to provide all its electric needs. We visit several UNESCO world heritage sites along the way including Jerash, Petra and Wadi Rum, Our tour leaders brief our groups to ensure we leave them exactly as they have been found, including not dropping litter or touching anything that must not be disturbed. We support the maintenance of these ancient sites with the financial support that entrance fees provide which we include in the tour package. Moreover, 80% of the electricity in Petra is produced by wind turbines.
We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth.
We encourage customers to avoid single-use plastic on tour, and our leaders give advice on refill points each day. Where tap water isn't safe to drink we recommend Water-to-Go bottles, a filtration bottle allowing you to drink water from any source.
Local Economy
Our leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travelers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.
Except for our night in Aqaba, all the hotels we stay at are family owned. Our base in Petra was erected where the family home used to stand many years ago, members of the same family still run the hotel.

Employment, Inclusivity and Diversity
We believe that diversity is to be celebrated and as a Certified B Corp we're committed to championing equity and inclusion throughout our entire supply chain. We believe that an inclusive approach is essential, and that the best results occur when contributors have different opinions, experiences and backgrounds to bring to the table.
The vast majority of the employees our local partner and service providers employ 100% Jordanian people. In some instances, there may be a small percentage of seasonal employees coming from other countries such as Egypt.
