We believe in keeping beautiful places beautiful. In Indonesia, you’ll stay in small-scale, authentic accommodation designed to work in harmony with the surrounding landscape. These places are chosen for their low-impact approach, local character and care for the environment. We work closely with long-established local partners who have supported responsible travel across Indonesia since 2003, focusing on experiences that respect natural ecosystems and encourage a slower, more thoughtful way of exploring the country.

For this itinerary, you will sail on a traditional wooden boat with limited guest numbers keeping the environmental impact low. Onboard, the crew are locally based and trained, waste is kept to a minimum, and there's a strong emphasis on understanding the marine environments you travel through. You’ll learn about the local ecosystems, wildlife and conservation challenges, encouraging a more informed and responsible way of exploring these remote islands.

Getting around in Indonesia is also planned with care for the places you’re traveling through. While many transfers are by private vehicle, we encourage a slower pace and longer stays in each location to help reduce pressure on the environment. Once you arrive, exploring on foot or by bike is often the most low-impact way to experience places like Ubud and smaller towns, allowing you to move gently through landscapes and connect more closely with local life. Traveling this way helps limit your footprint while offering a more thoughtful way to explore Indonesia.

Back in the UK, we aim to practise what we stand for. Our Brighton-based team works from a B-Corp-certified office, operates largely paper-free and partners with Earthly to support nature-based projects that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods. A small contribution is included in every itinerary, helping protect the landscapes and communities that make travel through Indonesia so special.

We believe in putting people first, and a big part of that is bringing you closer to the real Indonesia through genuine local connections. On this itinerary, that means stepping beyond the usual tourist stops to experience life along the islands at a more local pace. You’ll visit remote villages and explore hidden beaches, snorkel over vibrant coral reefs, and learn about the daily lives of the people who call these islands home. Along the way, you might stop at small family-run workshops, watch traditional fishing methods in action, or learn about local culture and customs from your guide.

Throughout the trip, you’ll have opportunities to interact with local communities in a natural and respectful way. Whether it’s sharing a meal prepared with local ingredients on board or in a village, chatting with your guide about life in Komodo and Flores, or visiting traditional coastal settlements, these moments offer a deeper insight into the culture and customs of the region.

Their knowledge adds real depth to your experience while ensuring tourism income goes directly to the people who live and work here. By choosing locally run activities and experiences, more of the money you spend stays within the community.
