Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

To ensure we only have a positive impact on the communities and environment we operate in, we work exclusively with local, independent partners who share our values. The accommodation on this trip serves only locally-sourced, fresh produce so that the carbon footprint is kept to a minimum.

When visiting Pitlochry, you can't miss the Dam and Fish Ladder - Pitlochry's hydroelectric dam offers an interesting educational experience about renewable energy.
Our Highlands Winter Walking trip has minimal transfers, just one short transfer to the start of your hike and the return journey the following day, helping to keep our carbon footprint low. The town itself is charming and compact, making it easy to walk or cycle around, promoting eco-friendly transportation and reducing carbon emissions.

Your guides will be sure to highlight the native wild species in this wild and beautiful land. Red deer and golden eagles roam and soar freely across the hills. To protect these native species’ environment, each guest receives a reusable water bottle to refill each day to avoid the need to buy single-use plastic bottles. We encourage you to take this away with you at the end of your stay and continue using this instead of ever needing to buy plastic bottles again.

People

At the heart of every trip we run lies our belief that supporting the local communities we visit is of great importance. We work with local independent partners who share our values in supporting their local communities. It can be difficult to find employment in rural areas such as the Scottish highlands, so we make sure to work with local partners on this trip to make sure opportunities remain open for locals.

An important consideration for us when planning each adventure is to ensure small communities remain balanced. This trip takes place over the out of season months, to help small businesses survive all year round. Big groups of tourists visiting one place can put unsustainable pressure on resources and infrastructure. By running small group tours, we can avoid the potential imbalance caused by overtourism. It’s also beneficial to you too! A small group trip means that you get a more authentic experience.
