This tour has a maximum of just twelve participants, meaning that we have a low impact on the environments and communities we visit and are able to ensure that we do not disrupt local people or use more resources than the local community can afford. The small number on this group also allows us to stay in unique, family-run hotels that cannot benefit from the larger coach tours and other mass tourism due to their limited sizes.

Our local partner is dedicated to the reduction of single use plastics, a major problem in Turkey. To help combat this they provide all travelers on this tour tote bags and multi use water bottles to avoid the usage of plastic bags and bottles. This theme runs through all that they do with the careful selection of hotels and guest houses that meet their strict levels of environmental protection. They are also committed to training local suppliers in the importance of responsible business practice.

People

This tour involves many activities to support local people and at the same time, provide unique and authentic experiences.

We take a walking tour in Istanbul, meeting the local market stall holders and purchasing and supplies we will need. In the village of Göreme, the group are hosted in the village for a local meal. Here they will learn some local cooking techniques which will be demonstrated by our hosts. On the way to Izmir we visit a locally owned and operated vinery for a wine tasting session and the opportunity to purchase some of their wines. Once we get to Izmir, the tour guide will take the group for a street food tour in the Kordon neighbourhood, supporting local street vendors.

The local team that we work with are committed to gender equality in all aspects of their business and they handpick local suppliers with a great effort to involve and support female business owners and workers.
