Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Our partners on the ground have been pioneering sustainable tourism for over 30 years empowering communities and preserving their natural habitat through responsible tourism.By partnering with the local community to be directly involved and benefit from this experience (locals have re-trained as guides, hosts and conservation stewards), the itinerary provides a sustainable income alternative, moving away from fishing reduces pressure on marine resources and helps to raise awareness on how to support conservation efforts.
This island-hopping approach allows guests to explore the islands with low impact on foot, kayak, snorkelling or by small boat which helps to minimise fuel use and lower the overall environment footprint. These experiences also follow strict sustainability guidelines, protecting sensitive habitats and preventing disturbance to native species. From reef safe, bio-degradable toiletries to leaving no waste, keeping to marked trails and keeping a safe distance from wildlife, guests are briefed on best practices to protect the environment they are visiting. Through interaction with conservation-minded locals who share first-hand knowledge about the islands ecosystems and marine life, guests are educated and hopefully inspired to become long-term ambassadors for ocean and wildlife protection.
People
This seven-day Galapagos-Island-Hopping Adventure is an innovative community-centric program that goes beyond traditional tourism. Designed to create real, lasting impact, it directly supports economic growth and environmental stewardship among the Galapaguenos. Developed in collaboration with the local community on Floreana Island of around 150 people, together with the Galapagos National Park authority, this program ensures that every visit directly benefits both the people and planet through responsible tourism.A highlight of the experience is spending time on Floreana island with the local community, including members of the Cruz family: descendants of the island's original settlers. Guests will get to know Floreana’s fascinating history and experience the Galapagos’ unique culture in an authentic and immersive way.
Part of the itinerary also includes a navigation experience with local ex-fishermen, long-time archipelago residents who have transformed their way of living from harvesting sea life to instead using their expertise to introduce the Galapagos' rich marine ecosystem to visitors while also helping to preserve it.
Not only does this approach ensure tourism revenue flows directly into local hands but it helps preserve the islands traditions, stories, and way of life. Whatsmore,100% of our suppliers in Ecuador that we work with are locally owned.
