CARBON REDUCTIONWe are fully committed to reducing carbon emissions. To do this, whenever possible, we use means of transport such as trains, buses and others.
To get to the island of Madeira, we will inevitably have to travel by plane, on a direct, non-stop flight. However, during our expedition on the island of Madeira, we are fully committed to practising and promoting responsible and sustainable tourism.
Thus, the entire expedition will be carried out in kayaks, leaving no environmental footprint in the aquatic environment. On land, we use local buses for transfers, hikes, thus we promote the local economy and services.
Mass tourism has enormous consequences for the balance of nature, which is why we NEVER stay in large hotels. We look for accommodation in villages, family accommodations, where natural resources are utilised (e.g. solar panels, ecological food, etc.).
All the materials we use are recycled and recyclable, so we avoid waste and rubbish.
That's why we invite everyone to pick up any rubbish that finds its way into the ocean.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Being such an environmentally rich region (forest and sea) it is extremely important to promote tourism with a reduced environmental impact on land and sea. On our Kayaks we will witness marine life without creating noise, pollution or any disturbance to the marine habitat, thus increasing the sensitivity of each one of us to the importance of preserving and protecting marine life.
Madeira contains a natural heritage of extreme scientific importance: the native forest of Madeira (Laurissilva), which was recognised by UNESCO in 1999 as World Natural Heritage, a unique distinction in Portugal, and now the bio-cultural property of all humankind.
Madeira has the largest area of this type of forest, about 22,000 hectares, and also the greatest variety of flora and fauna, with some rare species such as the Orquídea da Serra (Mountain Orchid), unique in the world.
Amongst the bird life is the endemic Madeiran wood pigeon, the Columba trocaz, an emblematic forest bird and the symbol of the Madeira Natural Park.
Two-thirds of Madeira’s 741km2 is classified as a nature reserve and a number of protected land and sea areas are part of the most important natural heritage of the Madeira archipelago, making it a prime ecological destination.
The Madeira Natural Park was created in 1982 to preserve this rich heritage. The park is classified as a Biogenetic Reserve and contains an invaluable natural wealth that is unique in the world.
The best way to visit, preserve and get to know Madeira is in our kayaks and along the network of recommended trails, with a local guide.

LOCAL ECONOMYOn our expeditions, we try to leave an "economic footprint" in the towns and villages we pass through. To do this, and to get to know each region better, we use local guides, local restaurants and typical, family-run accommodation.
By learning about local life, customs, culture and history, we allow the locals to share their points of view and way of life.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
By interacting with the local population, we become part of the community, understanding centuries-old habits and customs.
We pride ourselves on being inclusive. Our team is made up of male and female guides, all of whom are professionals with excellent human qualities. We follow the same principle with the local guides where we carry out our expeditions.
Love, respect, affection, humility and professionalism are priceless - we look for these characteristics in our guides. We like and are proud to recognise our collaborators.
All lovers of nature, kayaking and discovering unique places are invited to take part. Our expeditions ARE open to everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion or country.
With all this knowledge and sharing, the Madeira sea kayak expedition will be more complete, richer and unforgettable.
