Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION
This luxury Classic London and Paris Tour has been designed to have a positive impact on the planet. We encourage our travelers to embrace longer, more meaningful trips, and in this instance, this translates to choosing only one location within England and France.

The hotels we select in these locations all employ policies and strategies to reduce their carbon footprint. For example, 11 Cadogan Gardens is reducing its energy consumption and wastage and is recycling materials as often as possible. At the same time, Victoria Palace in Paris has 100% of its electricity from green energy. Rooms are equipped with an electricity-saving system connected to air conditioning and heating, and they also reduce their carbon footprint through initiatives like a bicycle taxi service.

Where possible, we use human-powered transport, like walking tours, and encourage the use of trains over flying. For example, we used Eurostar on this trip rather than flying from London to Paris. Eurostar is a sustainable form of international travel with an average of 96% less carbon footprint than flying. All trains use renewable energy, and this is the first train company to join RE100.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We prioritise hotels that follow eco-friendly principles that positively impact the environment through energy efficiency, waste management and water conservation. For example, in fostering an urban environment, Victoria Palace has banned all single-use plastics, from bathrooms to bars; they offer alternative products, and some solutions are water bottles, glass bottles of filtered water, and refillable products. Moreover, all taps and showers are equipped with water-saving devices, and the hotel uses local organic products when crafting its menus.

LOCAL ECONOMY
We are deeply committed to enhancing the local economies of the regions we visit. For this itinerary, we employ local guides for walking and food tours who are experts in their subject matter and directly impact the local economy. During this vacation, we also encourage travelers to visit local markets like Borough Market, where many stallholders are farmers, fishermen and bakers. These purchases contribute to the livelihoods of these local businessmen and women and help preserve traditional crafts and skills that are integral to England’s culinary heritage.

We likewise encourage travelers to create deeper connections to the city through hands-on experiences. For example, in France, we have arranged for our clients to learn about Paris’s wine culture through a tasting class with a local expert or to learn the secrets of flaky croissants and delicious macarons through baking classes.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All the guides referred to in this vacation are employed locally and offer incredible knowledge about the country’s communities and history, which provides a more authentic and cultural experience for our travelers. The hotels we partner with, like Victoria Palace, likewise ensure that they work with as many local businesses as possible and employ staff from the local area.

Moreover, our trip is designed to suit all accessibilities, welcoming travelers with varied mobility and backgrounds. This highlights our dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment in the travel industry.

At home, we are building a business in West Wales, an impoverished area with limited employment opportunities. By doing so, we directly contribute to the region’s regeneration, creating jobs for local residents and uplifting the community.
