Clients are encouraged to utilise direct flights were available to join the tour. Throughout our time in South Korea our small group (max 12) travels overland by bus and high-speed train, eliminating the need for any domestic flights.

While we conduct many of the city tours on foot, we also enjoy a number of human powered walking and cycling excursions, including a nature hike in Mudeungsan National Park, along with a cycling sightseeing excursion through the Daereungwon Tomb Complex.

With a real focus on the traditional and local cuisines, the majority of meals on this tour are taken in local restaurants offering locally sourced and made dishes such as the Korean favorite Kimchi, along with the opportunity to sample Korean street food, the city of Andong’s renowned local cuisine. We also offer a food-focused walking tour around the bustling streets of the Haeundae district of Busan along with a cooking lesson that uses all local ingredients to create a number of favorite local dishes.



ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

We visit a number of national parks and UNESCO heritage sites on this tour, including the Gayasan National Park and Damyang Bamboo Forest. The visitor entrance fees to these parks and attractions help maintain and protect the sites.

Unfortunately, the use of single-use plastic is wider spread in South Korea. To help reduce single-use plastic waste we actively promote the use of filtered water bottles to our clients.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY

This tour supports locally run and locally owned businesses, including accommodation providers and restaurants. All of the hotels selected on this tour are independently operated and are not a part of international chains. The itinerary also includes a one-night stay at a local monastery - the 9th century temple of Haeinsa. And as mentioned previously there is a strong focus on local cuisine which supports independent restaurants and street vendors.

This tour includes a number of paid visits to museums, temples and UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Hahoe World Mask Museum, before attending a traditional performance of a Hahoe Mask Dance performance.

A visit to the Gamcheon Cultural Village, a community integrated initiative in Busan, supports local residents and artists.

Local hosts, guides and drivers are employed throughout the trip, offering not only employment opportunities but a wealth of knowledge of their regions and country.
