Ferry crossings to the Hebrides and Islay are operated by Caledonian MacBrayne, which continually invests in more energy-efficient vessels and sustainable operations.

Hotels and energy use
Many of the boutique hotels we feature are committed to sustainability. The Torridon Hotel operates its own hydro-electric plant and organic farm, while Broad Bay House sources island produce and minimizes waste. These properties, along with others on your route, use renewable energy where possible and run towel and linen reuse programs. By supporting locally sourced menus, your stay helps reduce food miles and encourages sustainable farming practices.
