We use fuel-efficient minibuses with air conditioning, and all ground transportation is shared among the group members.

Low-Impact Local Transport: The itinerary incorporates traditional, low-carbon transport methods including the ferry to Gorée Island, pirogues (traditional canoes) for exploring Djoudj National Park and the Saloum Delta mangroves, and horse-drawn carriages in Saint-Louis. These methods not only minimize environmental impact but also support local operators and preserve traditional practices.

Full Board with Local Cuisine: All meals are included in the trip, featuring locally sourced Senegalese specialties. By working with local restaurants and hotels that prioritize seasonal and regional ingredients, we reduce food miles and support sustainable food systems while minimizing food waste through planned meal arrangements.

Supporting Protected Areas and Conservation: This trip directly contributes to conservation through entrance fees to three critical protected areas: Djoudj National Park (a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance and the world's third-largest bird sanctuary), the Saloum Delta (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), and Bandia Reserve. These fees fund the protection and management of these vital ecosystems and their diverse wildlife populations.

Local Guides and Operators: All boat tours, pirogue excursions, and the horse-drawn carriage tour in Saint-Louis are operated by local entrepreneurs. By using these services, we provide sustainable income opportunities for local families and help maintain traditional knowledge and skills.

Supporting Religious and Cultural Diversity: The itinerary celebrates Senegal's remarkable religious harmony by including visits to both the Grand Mosque of Touba (one of West Africa's most important Islamic sites) and the mixed Christian-Muslim cemetery of Joal-Fadiouth.
