CARBON REDUCTIONThis trip is designed as a low-impact, slow-travel experience that actively reduces carbon emissions through its activities, logistics, and accommodation choices. The core of the itinerary consists of six full days of human-powered activities, including horseback riding and guided walking, which significantly reduces the need for motorized transport and allows guests to experience the landscape at a natural pace.
All local transfers are conducted using shared transport only. Groups are limited to a maximum of 8 guests, and transfers are done with one shared 9-seat vehicle, reducing CO2 emissions per person and avoiding unnecessary vehicle use.
Accommodation used on this trip is located in a rural setting and is powered in part by solar panels, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Energy and water use are actively managed, and guests are encouraged through clear signage throughout the house to use water and electricity responsibly, including mindful hot water use.
Vegetarian meals are available every day, with vegan options provided on request. Meals are prepared using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, sourced primarily from nearby farms and households, minimizing food transport emissions and supporting the local economy.
Guests receive guidance on how to reduce the carbon impact of their vacation, including shared transport, low-impact activities, and responsible resource use during their stay.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Nature protection is central to this trip, which takes place in and around areas of high ecological value.
The accommodation is located within the Povlen Nature Reserve, and the horseback riding itinerary Tara Trail includes riding through Tara National Park, with park access conducted in accordance with local conservation regulations. Any applicable park entry fees directly support the protection and management of these protected areas.
Routes for horseback riding and walking are carefully planned to avoid sensitive habitats, minimize soil erosion, and reduce disturbance to wildlife. Group sizes are kept small to further limit environmental pressure.
Environmental practices at the accommodation include waste reduction, recycling, limited plastic use, and water-saving measures. Guests are clearly informed about responsible behavior in nature, including respecting wildlife, staying on marked paths, and following leave-no-trace principles.
Trips are led by experienced local guides with deep knowledge of the area’s ecosystems, traditional land use, and horse management in natural environments. Guides actively educate guests about local flora, fauna, and conservation challenges in the region.
While we do not currently partner directly with environmental NGOs, we make donations that support nature protection initiatives and conservation efforts in Serbia.

LOCAL ECONOMYThis trip is fully embedded in the local economy. All accommodations are locally owned, including family-run rural households, with no use of international hotel chains.
We support local livelihoods by working with local horse owners, farmers, food producers, and guides. Food, services, and supplies are sourced as locally as possible, ensuring that tourism income remains within the surrounding rural communities.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Horse Adventures Serbia is a locally owned company, and 100% of the staff and guides are from Serbia, with the majority coming from nearby villages and rural areas.
The trip creates stable income opportunities in regions with limited employment options, particularly in rural communities. Women play an active role in hospitality, food preparation, and guest services.
All staff are paid at least the legal minimum wage, and employment is based on fairness, safety, and respect. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation.
This trip is LGBTQ+ friendly, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests. Due to the nature of horseback riding and walking in mountainous terrain, the trip is not suitable for guests with limited mobility, and physical requirements are clearly communicated prior to booking.
