CARBON REDUCTION

Our trips are based on low-impact activities such as kayaking and hiking.

Whenever possible, we work with families and small producers who grow, raise, or prepare their own food. In more remote areas, supplies may come from small local shops where options are limited. While not always organic or standardized, supporting these systems is often the most responsible choice available locally.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

We keep group sizes small to reduce pressure on natural environments.

We operate in accordance with the regulations of the national parks and protected areas we visit. This includes working with certified local guides where required, ensuring that our activities meet established environmental and safety standards.

We follow Leave No Trace principles and work to reduce single-use plastics wherever possible. Waste is managed carefully throughout each trip. Where facilities exist, it is separated and disposed of appropriately. In remote areas, it is carried out and handled responsibly.

We also participate in local environmental initiatives, including beach and shoreline clean-ups. We encourage travelers to engage with the environment through simple forms of citizen science. During our trips, we contribute to cloud observation initiatives linked to NASA, as well as occasional local projects.

Food reflects the realities of Patagonia. It is local, seasonal, and often simple.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY

For us, travel is as much about people as it is about landscapes.

We design our journeys to create genuine connections with the people who live in these places. These interactions are not staged. They come from relationships built over time and are often what travelers remember most.

Mariano, our trip leader, is from Villa la Angostura in Patagonia. We will stay in his family hotel, some of his friends will come and play local music for us during the first night when he will cook some local specialities for us. Other people we will meet, like Florencia, who lives and works in her family's gaucho hacienda that you will visit, went to school with him. Others, such as the colono at the base of the el Dormilon who will prepare a lunch for us, are people who Mariano has spent years developing relationships with. The idea has always been to support local families that live in the area year round as well as give our guests experiences and the opportunity to meet and see how the local people live and work.

We work with local guides, rural families, and hosts who have a strong connection to the land. Many of them act as informal guardians of the environment, maintaining knowledge and practices built over generations.

Some have adapted to tourism following events such as the 2011 Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcanic eruption. Supporting them today helps sustain both livelihoods and cultural continuity.

We also collaborate with local artisans, many of them women, as well as individuals facing different social or economic challenges. In some cases, we work with local artists and musicians, bringing a cultural dimension into the journey. These experiences reflect everyday life in Patagonia.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

In some areas, visits with members of indigenous communities may be arranged in advance. These take place in a respectful manner and within the context of local life.

We aim to ensure that tourism contributes directly to local economies. Wherever possible, we work with small, locally owned businesses and independent providers. Most services such as accommodation, food, guiding, transport, and experiences are delivered by people from the region.

In some cases, due to logistics, safety, or regulations, we collaborate with more established operators. When this is necessary, we select partners carefully to ensure they meet our standards.

We regularly review our operations and prioritize smaller providers whenever viable alternatives exist. We also focus on maintaining long-term relationships with local partners.
