CARBON REDUCTION1.On this trip we carefully designed to escape domestic flights at any destination. From our expertise on distance from one park to the other and the time of the year planned for a safari program; we have managed to skip using of a flight from any destination.
2.Out of the three accommodation facilities aligned with this trip all get their power supply from renewable energy, the solar power. The Safari lodge in Tarangire, the Angata camp in Ngorongoro and the Ndutu lodge, operate almost exclusively on renewable energy. When the overcast contains clouds on the large part of the day, they have back up system from the soundproof generator.
3.Our Vehicles are the stretched land cruiser capable of carrying up to six guests, all in window seat. Regularly services/maintained and carefully checked to ensure smooth ride any emission free.
4.We do advice the use of aluminum bottles for drinking water; each of our guests must be given a bottle that becomes their own right at the beginning of the trip. Vehicles carry enough water in large containers; guests are to be refiled their bottles at any time during the journey.
5.Yet we are not using any electric cars, we ensure our vehicles are well maintained and regularly serviced and checked to avoid unnecessary emissions.
6.Vegan and Vegetarian food available year-round, hotels/lodges buy fresh supply from markets where the locals bring in their fresh sully from farms.
7.Most vegetables, rice, and fruits are local-sourced, some fruits orange, mango, and pineapple are seasonal. The accommodations we select are great at food waste plan; the garbage containers are divided each collect one type of waste to ease collection and recycling.
8.Accommodations on the trip, the Safari lodge, Angata camp and Ndutu lodge gets their power supply from renewable energy (Solar power), they have great back up system from soundproof generators to ensure 24-hour power supply.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
1.We do check policies of how accommodation on this trip reduces their environmental impact, like the use of solar power system, soundproof generators, water-wise toilet with dual-flush system or low-flow models.
2.The Tumbili lodge in Arusha where we put our guests for 1 night stay on arrival also for a day room on the last day, they have done and are still doing amazing job on nature restoration, the area has amazing natural look quite different from the first time of investment. The parks include the Entry fees, Tarangire 50 before VAT (59 with VAT), Serengeti 70 before VAT (82.6 with VAT), Ngorongoro 60 before VAT (70.80 with VAT)
3.The trip contributes to motivating education in schools. Each trip that goes out carries school supply like exercise books, pencils, pens and at times textbooks. Before sending supply we personally visit schools to see what could be of a helpful supply.
4.Giraffe center wildlife sanctuary in Arusha where rescued giraffes have cared with the aim of releasing them back to the wild in future. No, I haven’t considered adding an opt-out conservation fee to each trip for named NGOs?
5.We always share information with our guests about reducing their impacts on nature, like talking about feeding Birds or Monkeys could change their behavior. Monkeys could easily adopt the habit of stealing food from vehicles when left unguarded. Birds of prey could even adopt stealthily grabbing things from people’s hands.
6. Our nature guides are hand-picked with good educational background from the local communities and marginalized, they are to get further training on Tourism hospitality that includes customer caring, Flora & Fauna allied studies like Ornithology, Mammalogy, Geology, Entomology, Botany, Herpetology.
7.Invasive species isn’t that much of a big problem though in some few places it had been occurring. The authorities are to be informed, and they take serious measures to fight for extinction, though at times it is challenging.
People
LOCAL ECONOMY1.One of the accommodations in this Trip is locally owned, it has been in operating for over ten years.
2.We do employ local guides from the marginalized; during some activities like walking in the village our guests enjoy the local cuisine in the village; in this way we directly contribute to the local society. When any guests are interested in crafts there are some local cooperative markets where they can be taken to look for what they could be interested in.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
1.A large percent of the employed people employed by us and the operating partners are from within the country, between 10 – 13 % are from the marginalized/local community.
2.Personally, I sponsored 2 young boys, on has completed Pasiansi wildlife college in Mwanza in the Northern Tanzania. The other yet in a pharmaceutical college in Mbeya region in southern part of the country. We decided to have employment priority to youth from the marginalized, though it sometimes incurs us some cost.
3.We and our operating partners pay staff at least from the minimum wage
4.We nurture employment regardless of race, gender orientation or nationality
5.The trip is suitable for people with limited mobility, vision or hearing or cognitive issues.
