Planet
The diversity and sheer volume of birdlife in this area can be witnessed throughout the itinerary and will appeal to ecologists, bird-lovers and wildlife documenters alike. Indeed, nowhere in Australia is the bird life more exotic nor is the variety more extreme than in the Northern Territory. Your guides will be able to locate and identify many different species and provide an informative commentary throughout. For this trip we have make sure to only use companies that are eco-tourism accredited and operate with the utmost sensitivity to the local environment. We also work with a local charity whose purpose it is to educate local communities, particularly children, on the impact that plastics have on our oceans and to encourage citizens to take 3 pieces of plastic every time they visit a beach or waterway in order to aid the global clean-up movement. We are so dedicated to this we will be sending a team of staff members down to Australia to volunteer with this charity, promoting them on social media and helping with the clean-up effort.
People
One of the side trips on this itinerary is a visit to the culturally sensitive Arnhem Land and is operated by the legendary Davidson's Safaris. The property operates with a great respect for the land and its people and wildlife. The personally traits of many of the guides and their respect for the area really rubs off on guests, and in return the local Aboriginal people have a great relationship with the lodge and gives them exclusive access to some fascinating areas of Arnhem Land and some wonderful Aboriginal art and isolated communities which are inaccessible to other operators. The guides which run these tours are experts in biodiversity, cultural heritage and rock art promoting a responsible, educative focus whilst ensuring a minimal effect on the environment. This in turn helps communicate and interpret the natural values and cultural heritage of the areas visited, while encouraging protection, preservation and conservation of all resources in order to have sustainable visitation for future generations.Wherever we can, we use local people and businesses as our partners in destinations. Not only do we feel this gives you the best experience, it also brings benefits to local communities. The benefit also spreads further. Local people are motivated to preserve what attracts visitors, be it the culture, wildlife or environment. We’re committed to making your trip have a positive effect on the destination you’re visiting. When you arrive in country we will provide a list of local businesses and restaurants that we recommend and are confident support the local community and economy within which it exists. One example of this is the Saffrron restaurant in Darwin, which is a fantastic example of an eco-dining experience with a focus and commitment to sustainability and local produce.
