Reviewed on 16 Aug 2019 by Sarah WeinerWe loved just sitting on the deck watching the lake. So tranquil! The kids loved fishing from the raft and exploring. The cabin was so beautifully designed and had lots of games and nice touches like art materials and spices for cooking. Read full review

Really enjoyed the set up of the cabin, very thoughtfully done with lots of information, loads of smashing little touches (loved the walkie talkies!) & fresh baked muffins as a welcome did it for me. The location was exquisite. Read full review
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet and peopleThe Fisherman's cabin has a very low impact on the environment. It's been built using local and reclaimed materials wherever possible, all the furnishings have been bought or made locally, many from second-hand shops. Being off-grid means every watt counts and discourages wasteful use of electricity. The water supply is pumped and filtered from the lake so we appreciate the importance of using water carefully. There's a modern composting loo, and a stop button shower.
One of our aims is to 'showcase' greener energy options and new technologies as well as harking back to simpler times, seeking the perfect combination of a back to nature experience without having to forego modern comforts. We provide plenty of info for our guests about to the local markets, shops and restaurants so they may take advantage of the fabulous local produce and help the local economy. Hassle free bike hire is available, one of the best ways to see the local countryside.
Waste is recycled or composted wherever possible and we use eco-friendly cleaning products. We provide many extras such as basic culinary items, bedding and towels and a small supply of organic toiletries so our visitors can travel lighter.
