After the hustle and bustle of the city it is amazing to find such a peaceful oasis so close to the city. It was wonderfully relaxing to sit on the porch watching the sunset over the water (and to have an open air shower under the moon)! Read full reviewReviewed on 20 Oct 2019 by Leighann Starkey

Discover a serene backwater destination, just a short drive from Cochin yet far removed from the usual tourist trail. To preserve its natural charm and protect the environment, only two accommodations are available here. This ensures a quiet, authentic experience while supporting local traditions.People
We are located in Kumbalangi village, one of India’s 15 designated rural tourism destinations. The people here are warm, welcoming, and always ready to share their way of life—making this truly a home away from home. Staying with us offers a rare chance to connect with a local family and community. Our house, cottage, and garden are built and maintained using local materials and craftsmen. Fresh fish, prawns, crabs, coconut oil, fruits, and vegetables are all sourced from the surrounding area.
This homestay is the sole livelihood of the host family, who rely on it to educate their two sons, maintain the historic buildings, and nurture the three-acre coconut garden.
Your stay also supports the livelihoods of many in the village—boatmen, taxi and tuk-tuk drivers, toddy tappers, prawn farmers, fishermen, and local men and women who work in the gardens and homes. In choosing this homestay, you are helping sustain a unique community-based tourism initiative.
