Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Our Ireland itinerary maintains a consistent focus on preserving Ireland's natural beauty and sustainable agriculture. With a focus on off-the-beaten path destinations such as the Beara Peninsula, we avoid the stress that overcrowding can place on regions like The Ring of Kerry.

In addition, many of the small B&B's we select are sustainably utilizing their own produce, dairy, etc for the breakfasts they provide.

As we explore Ireland's remote countryside, or the streets of cities like Cork and Galway we heavily encourage our clients to walk or cycle instead of using taxi's or other road transportation.

We will take our clients to visit with our community partner in Ireland -- Irish Seed Savers. There, we will learn about the integral and impressive work that this organization has done to preserve Ireland's biodiversity and sustainable agriculture. Clients will gain a unique education on the importance of seed saving, heirloom varietals, sustainability, and many other eco-practices that Irish Seed Savers has put into place throughout their large acreage. 5% of trip sales are donated to Irish Seed Savers as well.

In addition to ensuring local and sustainably produced foods in the restaurant selections for our included dinners, any time we buy snacks for the road, we will prioritize fresh and local bites. As well, on all of our trips, we focus on reduction of plastic and make sure that water jugs are available for refilling personal reusable water bottles. In the event of waste, recycle and composting, we direct client to the appropriate bins and disposal method.

People

Throughout our journey along Ireland's West Coast (an area that sees many tourists) our priority is to bring our clients away from the areas teeming with large buses and chain hotels into the quieter countryside towns and villages. By staying in towns that are often overlooked, we bring tourism dollars to the businesses that need it.

Along our journey, we prioritize local experiences and in-depth learning about each unique local community. Whether exploring a fishing village in Western Cork, a sheep farm on the Dingle Peninsula, a peet bog in County Clare or a family-run park teeming with natural beauty, our clients will gain knowledge about the inner-workings of these communities and how they've sustainably maintained success over the years.

As well, we always stay in local, family-run B&B's, and select locally-run restaurants. In the evenings, we avoid 'touristy' restaurants and pubs, instead recommending traditional pubs, full of families, locals, music, and Irish traditions. In addition, our Irish-native guide is exceptionally talented at offering a glimpse in to Ireland's rich historical influences and modern-day character. We believe that a sound understanding of the local culture and community is essential to a transformative travel experience, and there is no better way to get that than from hearing through the stories of a local.
