Taste can trigger our most intense memories, like the bit of petite madeleine that instantly evoked a dreamy past in Proust's A La Recherche Du Temps ...
The word ‘yoga’ for some still conjures up the stereotype of chanting hippies in headbands; a very outdated and actually pretty offensive idea. What y...
Responsible Travel

Planet
Our Mexico Yoga & Cooking itinerary has a heavy focus on organic, local agriculture particularly through cooking & cuisine. Our accommodations are a local B&B who specialize in sustainability and locally sourced produce for their nutrition and cooking programs, which is a part of our itinerary. We also work with restaurants that source organic, local foods that are also culturally appropriate in the Guanajuato region including many native varieties vegetables, corn and chilies.Any time we buy snacks for the road, we look for fresh and local bites; in Mexico this might be fresh fruits, toasted corn, or tortillas with fresh made cheese.
On all of our trips, we focus on reduction of plastic and make sure that water jugs are available for refilling personal reusable water bottles. In the event of waste, recycle and composting, we direct guests to the appropriate bins and disposal method. In this part of Mexico, safe, filtered water is easily available at our accommodations and restaurants. We also provide guests with a special discount code for a Grayl water filter if they'd like to reduce plastic waste even more by drinking filtered tap water.
People
Our Mexico Yoga itinerary prioritizes locally owned suppliers including our local B&B and the restaurants that we visit. Our accommodations are locally owned and source much of the food from local organic farms.During our itinerary, we do a cooking class together in which we visit the local market to purchase the ingredients, giving guests direct interaction in the community.
Our community partnership for Mexico focuses around sustainable agriculture in the region. Guests will visit a local café and learn about the different crops grown in the region and what organic methods are used to keep them healthy and strong. Visitors will also learn about the cultural, political, and environmental challenges around organic agriculture and what the community is doing to overcome them.
5% of trip sales are donated to our partner for their program. We believe that a sound understanding of the local culture and community is essential to a transformative travel experience.
