CARBON REDUCTION

As a travel company we're acutely aware of our impact on the environment. Each one of our tours displays a carbon footprint, and we're working to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our itineraries and embracing lower-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking – which aren't just better for the planet, but we believe offer a more enjoyable and authentic travel experience too. We're a Certified B Corp that's committed to creating unforgettable adventures while protecting our planet for future generations.

On this trip we make use of Reykjavik's excellent public shuttle bus to and from the airport. Using this service means you can arrive at any time of the day and share transport to reduce the amount of traffic on Iceland's roads, yet still arrive directly at your hotel.

Nearly 100 % of Iceland's electricity comes from geothermal and hydroelectric sources, and most heating is geothermal as well. The hotel we use on this trip are powered by renewable energy from the grid.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth.

Water in Iceland is excellent quality and we encourage all customers to carry a re-usable bottle with them and fill up during the day, avoiding the need for single-use plastic bottles. Where tap water isn't safe to drink we recommend Water-to-Go bottles, a filtration bottle allowing you to drink water from any source.

Our ground agent is working on a reforestation project with local authorities to plant an Icelandic forest of local trees adn fauna.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Our leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travelers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.

On this trip we explore further than the capital and the Golden Circle which are the main tourist routes in Iceland. We travel up to Akureyri in the north. Here we ensure our money goes in to the community by visiting a small brewery and sampling their excellent beers!

We make a stop at Solheimar Eco Village, a unique community where people with and without special needs live and work together, creating handmade candles, ceramics, woodcrafts, herbal products, and organic vegetables. We will learn about village's inspiring philosophy, and have the chance to relax in the cozy coffee shop.

This tour as LGBTQ+ friendly, the destination itself is one of the most welcoming places in Europe for LGBTQ+ travelers, and the culture, safety environment, and local scene support an inclusive experience.

Our local ground agency is Icelandic-owned and consists of a powerhouse team of three women, all from one local community in South Iceland. They are currently working towards Travelife certification.
