Planet
As a company, we support the Mount Kenya Trust and help them as much as we can, from organising charity treks, helping them with back-up support during forest fires and with tree planting. In October 2019, our director went to the mountain to help with the tree planting programme and she and other volunteers planted 200 seedlings on the north west side of the mountain.Conservation fees which are collected on behalf of the Northern Rangelands Trust contribute towards anti-poaching and security initiatives.
We also collect rubbish whenever we are working on Mount Kenya and you will always see our litter picker in evidence.
People
As part of this trip, you stay at Sabache Eco Camp. We particularly want to support this camp as it is a sustainability project designed to help local people help themselves by providing jobs as well as for conservation initiatives.Sabache has no owner or investor and 100% of revenue is directed toward basic human rights such as clean water, food security, education, and health care, as well as wildlife and habitat programmes.
All the staff are local Samburu from neighbouring villages and this is a really authentic experience interacting with local people and supporting them directly.
