1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

An outstanding trek in a peaceful, remote and beautiful area of Nepal.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Because its more remote, be prepared for 1 - 2 days of jeep travel to get to the starting point. If possible, try and add Pathibhara Temple to the itinerary.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We stayed in tea houses so in that respect it benefited the local people.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Excellent trip. The tour operator looked after us brilliantly.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

This trip is off beaten track and allows for wild trekking where possibilities, this gives the customers the chance to spot wild animals. Due to this, it is important not to leave any traces behind. Always take the safe side of the animals you meet on the trek, do not approach them with loud noises or food and make sure to always give them the right of way.

Nepal has on-going issues with litter, that why it is so important for our customers to not litter. Many people in the country burn their trash, as a company it is our mission to show them ways to recycle their rubbish by giving them examples.

We humbly as the customers not to bring any plastic with them and to refuse plastic bags when buying from local shops, or imported snacks.
Nepal is rich in pure spring waters, therefore customers are advised on having water purifiers and BPA free bottles that they can refill during the trek. By doing this, customers do not need to buy water bottles along the way.

In remote areas, the best way to charge devices is to bring portable solar panel. Lots of locals do the same as in many villages there is no electricity still.

During the trek, we'll stay in tea houses and lodges that were built by locals. They are very typical everywhere in Nepal, offer basic facilities and are very eco-friendly as they use only natural materials produced locally.

This is mostly a walking vacation which is compromising transport a lot and is a sustainable way of traveling. The best is to stay at home of course, but second, best is to go trekking and hiking.
Slowly, our suppliers are learning to be more concerned about decreasing the bad impact on our environment. Restaurants and tea houses are using electric and gas stoves for cooking instead of wood-burning where possible and income allows to upgrade.

People

This whole vacation is run by locals: drivers, guides, cookers and porters. We give them great working conditions: salary, life insurance, accommodation, meals, equipment and transportation. We employ our members from a particular area in Nepal for this trek, this is so that more people can have a stable income throughout the year.

We stay in locally run hotels, teahouses and lodges. We also eat in local restaurants. The customers can support the local community by buying souvenirs, gifts, snacks and fruits from small local shops rather than big chains.

The food on this trip is locally-grown and organic. Vegetarian option is always encouraged during the trek.

During the trek, we will see local communities and will be able to find out more about what projects are making a difference. During the trek, we are able to see local communities and are able to find out more about the projects that are aiming to improve the lives of the locals. If the travelers have any ideas of how to help the local community, we would love to hear about it and pass it on to the project leaders.

Travel with respect - greet everyone on your way, learn a bit of Nepali, teach your language, have a tea with your guides and porters together, create a dialogue. In our culture being shy and quiet is very usual and normal.

We are still very conservative in remote areas so dress modestly, respect our customs and traditions and don't break rules. Live like a local - is the best moto for this vacation.
