Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

We have a strict pack in, pack out policy to ensure no rubbish is left behind. Guests are provided with refillable water bottles to limit the amount of plastic waste.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
The Impacts of this Trip
Dubrovnik has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently as a result of the surge of tourists that flock to the city each day. By basing ourselves in the picturesque car free island of Lopud, a short 45 minute away by public ferry we escape the crowds and ensure money spend goes directly to the communities we visit. We use two locally owned guesthouses and eat in a sea front tavern just 100 meters walk from our guesthouse. On the day we visit Dubrovnik old town, we catch the first public ferry to the port which enables us to visit when cruise passengers aren’t present and the streets are quieter.
We use a local operator who have lived in Croatia all their lives and are passionate about their country and showcasing its natural beauty; whilst this is a active trip with a focus on sea kayaking and paddle boarding there is still opportunity to visit the local communities on the island including the cafe on Sunj beach on Lopud and paddle to the delightful fishing village of Sudurad on Sipan for a lunch of local delicacies.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
