Carbon Reduction
Our city tours in Rome and Naples are either on foot or use public transport such as the metro in Rome. Between Rome and Naples we travel by train. As well as being less polluting and more sustainable, than using chartered transport, this also enables the group to discover hidden sights and gain a greater insight into the local culture and daily life. Our tour leaders also offer advice about what to order based on what's in season and what has been produced locally.
As a travel company we're acutely aware of our impact on the environment. Each one of our tours displays a carbon footprint, and we're working to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our itineraries and embracing lower-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking – which aren't just better for the planet, but we believe offer a more enjoyable and authentic travel experience too. We're a Certified B Corp that's committed to creating unforgettable adventures while protecting our planet for future generations.

Environment and Wildlife
The tap water is treated and safe to drink in Italy. We encourage clients to take a reusable water bottle to re-fill, rather than generating plastic bottle waste. Our local partner and tour leaders on tour follow and brief customers on a zero waste travel strategy whenever possible, in particular, they are trying to come up with initiatives to stop them using all single use plastics. Customers are briefed on local recycling opportunities, shopping with a day pack or tote bag (to avoid plastic bag use) and avoiding using plastic cups and straws. Our team in Rome has been mapping the original water fountains (which are still in use) and have been sharing this information with our groups to ensure that travelers are given the option to refill bottles with clean, potable water while exploring the city. A modern-day version of these fountains, the so-called ‘waterhouses’ are also being mapped. These stations offer the ability to charge phones as well as refill bottles with still or sparkling water.
We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth.
We encourage customers to avoid single-use plastic on tour, and our leaders give advice on refill points each day. Where tap water isn't safe to drink we recommend Water-to-Go bottles, a filtration bottle allowing you to drink water from any source.

People

Local Economy
Both we and our local agent we use on this trip are very keen on doing activities and visiting places that involve our customers in the real lives and customs of the place. This can be something as simple as joining the locals for a coffee at a back street espresso bar in Rome or eating a pizza on the street in Naples (being sure to fold it local style!). We use local tour leaders that have a deep knowledge of the destination and of the local businesses in each community we visit. They also ensure that our customers are aware of the cultural norms that should be observed, dress code, gestures, etc. Most of the accommodation we use on this trip is locally owned. Our tour leaders will make recommendations to clients to use locally owned restaurants, bars and shops. We purposely do not include evening meals on this trip. This allows you to eat out at local family-run restaurants which is both an opportunity to experience the traditional cuisine and specialities of the regions as well as helping to support the local economy. Our tour leaders also offer advice about what to order based on what's in season and what has been produced locally.
Our leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travelers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.
