Did you know there are still an estimated 2 to 6 million unexploded bomb remnants in rural Siem Reap alone? The dangers they pose remain significant, which is why we work with APOPO, a Siem Reap based non governmental organisation that trains African giant pouched rats to detect landmines and unexploded ordnance so they can be safely removed. We have also adopted Magawa the Hero Rat, whose work helped clear landmines and unexploded ordnance, contributing to safer communities across Cambodia.

Throughout your Cambodia adventure, you'll experience a variety of Small Change initiatives that support local communities and encourage responsible travel practices. These include opportunities to take part in river and beach clean ups, support conservation initiatives, and travel with local operators.

As tap water is not suitable for drinking in Cambodia, refill stations are available at most of our overnight accommodation and many activity locations, helping reduce the use of single use plastic bottles. Travelers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, and reusable INTRO branded bottles are available to purchase for those who need one.

As part of our Small Change initiative, we support a range of environmental and community focused projects. In 2019, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant 10 trees for every booking received. Since late 2023, we have also worked with Path Net Zero to measure the emissions associated with our tours and with Veritree to support verified tree planting projects.

This means that your money is being used to support the local economy, and goes directly to those who need it most. Every one of our trips includes a variety of #smallchanges that you’ll get to experience first hand.

In some rural areas throughout Cambodia, many families cannot afford school uniforms or basic school supplies. To help support these communities, we work directly with local village chiefs in the Siem Reap region to provide essential equipment and supplies for school children. Through both our own contributions and the generosity of our travelers, we’ve been able to make a meaningful difference to many local families.

Throughout Cambodia, we work closely with local guides who help us better understand the country’s history, culture and traditions. Some of the stories can be difficult to hear, but they are an important part of understanding Cambodia’s past and the resilience of its people today.

Our experiences are designed to go beyond sightseeing and encourage genuine cultural exchange. From visiting floating villages and local markets, to learning traditional Cambodian cooking techniques using ingredients sourced from local communities, each experience helps support local businesses and provides a more authentic connection to daily life in Cambodia.
