A trip to Bhutan is like traveling back in time. Since opening its doors to tourists in 1974, this formerly isolated country has had a clear strategy...

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

The Himalayas is a fragile ecosystem. Due to a lack of local awareness, the impact of plastic and air pollution on this ecosystem has been immense. To overcome this issue, we encourage all our guides and drivers to follow great social hygiene practices viz. throwing the garbage in bins, minimize the use of plastics. During the hikes, if there is no bin around then the guides/ Sherpa’s collect the garbage in a separate bag and dispose of it appropriately upon return. Also, the local guide association is going a great work on the ground to make a positive impact. The guests who are found littering are sensitized by the guide.

Most of the tourism-related vehicles in Nepal are very old and do not follow any environment norms. We being a responsible company, ensure that only newer vehicles are offered to our guests that are emission tested and are comfortable. We make sure that with the help of newer vehicles that are enabled with the engines made with new technology we can suppress the carbon footprint in the Himalayan region.

Being a responsible company, we do not encourage the mistreatment of animals. So, do not recommend using Yaks, Elephants, or any animals during tours in Nepal and Bhutan.

Bhutan has made striking efforts to be an environmental benchmark. It is one of the few in the world to have a negative carbon rating. Le Meridien in Thimphu, COMO hotels, Aman Hotels, Taj Tashi, and other boutique hotels all believe in Bhutan’s philosophy of being an environmentally viable tourism country.

People

We believe that tourism is a great way to learn more about local culture, food, and also an employment opportunity for locals. Authentic food and cooking tour in Bhutan offers a wonderful opportunity for our guests to meet a local family and understand more about Bhutanese culture and food. During this tour, we take our guests to one of a local household where they sit with the family and interact with them. They learn how to cook an authentic Bhutanese Cuisine and how to keep it that way. We make sure that the vendors from whom we are engaging services are strictly following the no employment of Child Labour at their places of the establishment.

The food tour in Nepal offers a glimpse of the local delicacies. We make sure that all the places we take our guests to are hygienic and follow the food and safety protocols issued by the Government. We also make sure to note the various food allergies our guests might have before commencing the tour. During our food tours, we take our guests to places where they can easily eat without any worry. We employ local guides so that they get employment through such tours.

We select top hotels in the Himalayas for our guests that not only offer great ambiance, food to guests but offer good employment opportunities to local youth. We make sure to engage with the hotels and vendors who are helping in their way to uplift the local youth and making the youth ready for the upcoming challenges.
