Planet
The link between the health of the environment and the health of the community is never so obvious as on this tour. And as importantly you will see the initiatives that Kenyan are taking to change practices that have compromised the environment and their own health. You will also see a community that comes into contact with wildlife on a daily basis. And yet despite the interactions between the two, the Kenyan people and particularly the Maasai have great respect and reverence for the wildlife. They seek to coexist in harmony with wildlife. This tour shows the ability of the Kenyans to adapt and as they change some practices you see the eco systems responding accordingly. And this is one of the most extraordinary aspects of Kenyan people and what this tour reveals.
So whether its biogas systems which are being installed to protect ground water supplies, or establishing water tanks and fresh water supplies in communities, it is the focus given to how people and the environment need to respect each other which takes this tour to another level. And the engagement that our guests have with both aspects of Kenya is what makes this tour special.
People
This is an experience that takes you to the different communities that make up the multi-cultural dimensions of Kenya. It is a trip that is entertaining, enlightening and often emotional for guests. But this trip is a total learning experience. If you are a people’s person then this trip is certainly for you.The thing that will impact on you is the diversity of Kenya that this tour embodies. You meet Maasai families who are adapting to change, but whose cultural practices will amaze you. And all this from the perspective of older Maasai, Maasai women and young Maasai warriors. And as Maasai hosts all speak fluent English, the connection and exchanges are instant. And through all this, are the shared values which surface so effortlessly. Of course your Maasai hosts have slightly different day than you. Up I the hills defending their herds from attack from predators. But their respect for the wildlife is palpable and you can ask them any questions you want.
And then on the other days you meet Kikuyu women who are have starred down the challenges of life and who are skilling up to be able to support their families. Your involvement is crucial to their journey. And then you meet Kenyan grandmas from various tribes. All forging roles as community leaders.
And through the 6 days, you will get to see Kenyans after dark and enjoy the revelry that comes from discussing the days events and what you have seen and heard. Powerful debriefs and knowledge which have given context and meaning to all you have witnessed. And the program finalizes with a party on the 6th day that brings this all together and with the images and videos which are passed to you as a memento of your trip.
