Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
We travel in small groups of 4-6 people, thus minimizing the impact on society and nature. As photographers, we are not intruding into the lives of people, we are simple observers and we are respectful of all nature, people and places that we encounter along the way. We can easily blend into local communities by traveling in small groups. The tour doesnt have a strong focus on conservation but we will stay away from activities that harm and pollute nature such as cruise ships, boat rides, energy-intensive large resorts. Instead we will stay as much as possible in small scale, locally owned accommodation units which use alternative energy sources like solar.
Every participant is advised on ways to reduce water, energy and waste usage.
The itinerary is designed so as to reduce the number of kilometres driven though we change location almost daily. We encourage tourists to walk in villages and towns, instead of using the car.
We will eat at local restaurants and tavernas and recommend as much as possible local, seasonal and if available, organic food.
People
We will stay in small, locally owned hotels and bed & breakfasts contributing to local job creation in areas with less tourism development (such as small towns in Peloponnese area).Peloponnese region is one of the main agricultural regions of Greece from where some of its best olive oil, vegetables and citrus fruit come. And it is surrounded by water so we are sure to get on our plates fresh fish caught by local fisherman. For meals we will stop at locally owned restaurants and tavernas which use local, seasonal ingredients supporting this way local small businesses and agriculture. We will even visit a local market (famous for Kalamata olives) and visit an olive farm to learn about the entire process of growing olives and making olive oil.
We will facilitate contact with local people and getting to know more about the Greek way of life by staying in small accommodations and eating where locals usually eat.
