As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetWe encourage low carbon transport and have designed the trip to work with the overnight sleeper train times from Paris as preferred way to get to the destination. We also plant a tree for every trip with our partners Mossy Earth.
We operate a paperless office and all our communication and trip itineraries are communicated digitally with clients via a phone app. In our supplier contract we ask all our suppliers to sign up to an environmental commitment, for example using biodegradable toiletries in hotels or eliminating one use plastic for picnics.
We choose guides who are also wildlife experts. They communicate their passion for the environment, in particular birds, who live in the crag environment to help sensitise and educate our clients to their cause. It is not unusual to spot golden eagles, vultures and other mythic birds whilst climbing.
PeopleAll our guides and instructors are local to the area with guiding as their main source of revenue. We pay them the correct price for their services and don't undercut them by using cheap gap year students or foreign guides.
We prioritise small independent accommodation providers over chains and both hotels for this trip are family run hotels local to the area.
We promote local restaurants and suppliers of local produce for this trip, and provide details to help clients choose sustainably when they are here.
All these efforts help to ensure that all the money you pay for the tourist services you enjoy whilst you are here are ploughed back into the local economy.
We operate on a small scale with small group sizes and a variety of different trips so as not to overwhelm the local community or environment but provide a healthy, sustainable tourist income. We are against mass tourism.
