As with all our luxury vacations, this itinerary has been created to ensure that it positively impacts the planet. We encourage travelers to focus on a single trip and stay for longer rather than making shorter more frequent trips throughout the year. We work with accommodations and that ensure they are positively impacting the environment.
For example Colca Lodge takes pride in having very low energy consumption and makes a active effort in minimising energy use and Wifi, they have also created their own heating system through natural hot springs.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE:
It is very important that we only sell lodges that are carefully selected for the work they do on the ground and how guests can experience these conservation areas in the most sustainable way possible.
For example Los Qolqas aims to give back to the Sacred Valley through utilising ecological methods to keep the impact as low as possible; minimal impact architectural dwellings that blend in with the surroundings; the tents to be thermally efficient and the use of ancient irrigation techniques for waste water.

LOCAL ECONOMY:
We are very selective with which lodges we offer, we promote small owner-run businesses that support and give back to the local community. It is vital that the accommodation options that we offer, have a positive impact on the local economy.
Colca Lodge works alongside local communities and provide jobs on their Alpaca farm at the lodge and educates visitors on the pre-Inca ruins that surround Colca Lodge. This is very important to make sure that the money from tourism is going back into the local community.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY:
Within this itinerary, it is vital that all guides and employees are employed locally so that this positively affects the local economy. By using local guides this provides a more authentic experience and whilt offering a wealth of local knowledge. Las Qolqas ensure that they employ and empower the local community. The lodge has set up ‘Asociacion Civil Las Qolqas’ NGO, which prioritises children’s education, family healthcare, environmental protection and the preservation of Peru’s cultural heritage.
