family adventures
The choice is vast, and you really don’t have to be super fit to do them either.
Family wildlife
At Responsible Travel, we don’t support zoos; we believe spotting wildlife in the wild is the best way to see it.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTION

In Borneo, we emphasise sustainable travel practices, including the use of solar power at some accommodations. The "Deluxe Houseboats" used during the Tanjung Puting National Park segment, for example, incorporate solar panels to generate electricity for lighting and other basic needs. These houseboats provide an eco-friendly way to explore the lush landscapes while minimizing environmental impact.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

On this tour we support a number of wildlife sanctuaries. You will have the opportunity to visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, where orphaned and rescued Orangutans receive medical care and are reintroduced to 'wild' living.

The mission of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre in Sabah tat we work with in Malaysia, is to promote sun bear conservation in Borneo through animal welfare, conservation, rehabilitation, education and research - giving captured sun bears a better home and restoring their right to live in the wild, by: Creating the capacity to confiscate, rehabilitate and release suitable orphaned and ex-captive bears back into the wild. Providing an improved long-term living environment for captive bears that cannot be released.

By inviting families to Borneo on this trip, we hope to see increased protection for sun bears and their habitat through ongoing research, increased knowledge and awareness, and further protection of habitat.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY

A significant proportion of staff are locals, fostering economic growth and cultural representation.

Volunteering and charity work is really important to us. We ensure to do both equally. We support a key volunteering project giving them visibility throughout our distribution channel and showing to people their ‘modus operandi’. Every year we support and visit an orphanage house where we ensure that we spend a lot of important time together playing with kids, donating, organizing and fundraising. Donations and fundraising efforts help ensure the orphanage receives continued financial and material support, fulfilling a yearly promise to enhance the children's lives.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

We support the local community and notably the majority of our staff is made up of local people. Some examples: Barshall our operation manager comes from Iban tribe in Sarawak, as does Rosa our senior reservation.
