CARBON REDUCTIONThis trip supports safari camps that are use solar panels for 100% of their electricity usage. We actively encourage the use of mokoros and walking safaris where possible and promote safari properties and partners that offer these activities.
We create carbon calculations for each trip and provide these to each guest. We want to bring carbon in to the conversation and work with our guests on how to reduce their footprint.
Vegetarian and vegan food is available throughout this trip and the majority of properties that we would suggest.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The two Botswana properties suggested for this trip are located in areas designated for wildlife protection. In the Okavango Delta each concession area works on a low impact high value model, ensuring that tourism pays for wildlife conservation. The Panhandle is a crucial wetland environment which supports hundreds of bird species.
We donate 30% of profits to support conservation and community projects across Africa, as well as Botswana.

LOCAL ECONOMYAll properties suggested on this trip are African companies. Nxamaseri Island Lodge and Kanana are both Botswanan owned and registered companies. Old Drift Lodge is managed and owned by a Zimbabwean company.
All guides used are local to the country and where possible from the local community. At Nxamaseri all of the staff are from two local villages located within a couple of miles of the property. Not only does this provide opportunity and security for the community but a massive benefit to guests as they are able to spend time with guides and staff that have grown up in the area.
