CARBON REDUCTION

We are committed to designing low-carbon vacations that reduce emissions at every step of the journey.

HUMAN-POWERED TRANSPORT: Many of our trips incorporate human-powered experiences that naturally lower emissions.

SHARED LOCAL TRANSPORT: We actively encourage travelers to use Kenya’s SGR train between Nairobi and the coast, a shared rail option that significantly reduces CO2 per person compared to flying.

RENEWABLE ENERGY & ACCOMMODATION PRACTICES: The majority of our partner accommodations are powered by solar, harvest rainwater, recycle wastewater, and employ low-impact systems such as compost or drop-down toilets. Many have plastic reduction policies and minimise food waste through composting or donating leftovers. We personally carry out an impact analysis at our partner accommodations properties.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD PRACTICES: We highlight vegetarian and vegan options on our trips including day experiences such as food tours and cooking classes, sourcing produce locally and seasonally whenever possible. By celebrating plant-based dining, we lower the carbon footprint of each trip while also supporting local farmers.

SPREAD AWARENESS: We share a pre-trip document with our travelers which includes advice that helps reduce carbon footprint and have a greater positive impact on the country visited.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

Every experience we offer is designed to protect biodiversity and leave a positive impact on Kenya’s ecosystems.

SUPPORTING RESTORATION PROJECTS: Our Diani sunset canoe tour contributes to a local mangrove restoration project. Travelers plant mangrove seedlings, learning how these vital trees protect coastlines, act as carbon sinks, and provide habitats for marine life.

NATURE-POSITIVE ACCOMMODATIONS: We prioritise properties that integrate nature into their design, using local natural materials (e.g., makuti palm roofs), planting indigenous trees, and maintaining permaculture gardens to promote soil health and pollinator habitats. As well as treat the wildlife and biodiversity around them with respect.

PARK FEES AND CONSERVATION CONTRIBUTIONS: All our safaris include entrance fees to national parks and conservancies, directly funding anti-poaching patrols, habitat restoration, and wildlife monitoring.

WILDLIFE ETHICS AND EDUCATION: Our driver-guides are trained in responsible tourism practices, ensuring guests respect wildlife viewing distances and park regulations. Every traveler receives seed balls to plant during their safari, actively contributing to reforestation efforts.

LOCAL ECONOMY

LOCALLY OWNED ACCOMMODATION & EXPERIENCES: We partner where possible with locally owned eco-lodges, village camps, and boutique beach resorts, ensuring revenue remains in Kenya.

MAXIMISING LOCAL ECONOMIC IMPACT: We employ local guides, collaborate with fresh produce markets and craft cooperatives, and co-create experiences with community members – from food tours to cultural workshops – giving travelers the chance to support small businesses while engaging authentically with Kenyan culture. One of our main aims is to ensure tourism money goes to the deserving humans on ground.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY... We are passionate about using tourism as a tool for empowerment and inclusion.

LOCAL EMPLOYMENT

100% of our guides and operating partners are Kenyan, with many from the exact communities where the tours take place.

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MARGINALISED GROUPS: We co-create experiences with a community center that trains and employs people with disabilities, including through a wheelchair-making workshop. Our Lamu Swahili Cooking Class is led by women with no formal education, providing entrepreneurship opportunities and restoring dignity.

SOCIAL IMPACT PROGRAMMES: Each safari includes a “Happiness Box” that travelers can gift to local families – a package of rations supporting a family of five for up to two weeks. A portion of proceeds from every tour funds the Deep Sea Slums Feeding Programme, providing hot meals to children on weekends and daily meals during school vacations.

DIVERSITY AND RESPECT: As a proudly female-owned business, we champion gender equality in tourism and design trips that are LGBTQ+ friendly, inclusive, and respectful of all cultures and faiths.
