This itinerary has been carefully curated to reduce carbon emissions through responsible accommodation choices, efficient travel planning, and strong partnerships with conservation-focused properties.

Ololo Safari Lodge & Farm operates as a working farm and eco-conscious lodge within Nairobi National Park. By producing much of its own food on-site, the lodge significantly reduces food miles and transport emissions. Solar energy use, waste recycling, and sustainable farming practices all contribute to lowering its overall carbon footprint while supporting a circular, local economy.

Sosian Lodge is a leader in conservation-driven, low-impact tourism. The lodge utilises renewable energy sources, implements careful waste management systems, and manages land sustainably to prevent degradation. Its location within a private conservancy reduces overcrowding and supports long-term ecosystem health, ensuring that tourism contributes positively rather than adding pressure to the environment.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

At Cedar Retreat, operations are designed to work in harmony with the surrounding forest ecosystem. Energy-efficient systems, responsible water use, and low-impact infrastructure help minimise environmental disturbance in this sensitive highland region, while sourcing locally reduces the need for long-distance transportation. In the Maasai Mara, Seringet Mara Camp offers an intimate, low-density safari experience. Smaller camps inherently reduce energy consumption and environmental strain, while thoughtful camp design minimises permanent impact on the landscape. The camp also prioritises local sourcing and efficient resource use, helping to keep emissions as low as possible in a remote setting.

Across the entire journey, we encourage simple but impactful practices such as carrying reusable water bottles, reducing single-use plastics, and being mindful of energy and water use while staying in camps and lodges. By working together with our guests and partners, this itinerary supports a more climate-conscious way of exploring Kenya—where every experience contributes to preserving the landscapes that make it so special.

We work closely with partners who ensure that tourism directly benefits local communities, creating employment, supporting small businesses, and strengthening long-term economic resilience across the regions visited on this journey.

In Nairobi, Ololo Safari Lodge & Farm plays an important role in supporting the local economy through employment and sourcing. Staff are recruited from nearby communities, while fresh produce and services are largely sourced locally. As a working farm, the lodge also supports local supply chains and skills development, ensuring that tourism revenue circulates within the surrounding area.

At Cedar Retreat, opportunities are created for communities living along the forest edge. Local people are employed across hospitality, guiding, and maintenance roles, while collaboration with community groups encourages sustainable land use and conservation-linked livelihoods in the Aberdare region.

In Laikipia, Sosian Lodge demonstrates a strong commitment to community partnership. Employment opportunities are prioritised for local residents, and the lodge supports livelihoods through training, skills development, and the use of local suppliers. Its presence within a private conservancy also helps create economic value tied to wildlife conservation, benefiting both people and ecosystems.
