Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION

Our itinerary is paced deliberately to limit unnecessary journeys, concentrating exploration in key areas that showcase Jordan's natural and cultural highlights without excessive travel. This tour is designed to minimize carbon emissions through thoughtful travel planning and low-impact experiences throughout Jordan. We prioritize walking tours through archaeological sites and natural settings such as the Dead Sea shoreline, significantly reducing reliance on motorized transport and environmental impact while deepening engagement with place.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

This journey actively supports nature conservation through direct contributions to protected areas and environmental education. The trip includes entry fees to significant natural sites such as Petra and the Wadi Rum desert, which serve as important environmental preservation areas. Accommodation is carefully chosen to support environmental stewardship, with community-owned hotels in Amman, a Bedouin camp, and in Petra.

The tour highlights the importance of sustainable tourism practices in protecting Jordan's unique natural resources for future generations. We always operate with smaller groups to reduce the impact on the environment and ensure our tours do not disrupt communities.

LOCAL ECONOMY

This tour ensures tourism income benefits local communities by working exclusively with Jordanian guides, drivers, and locally run hotels and camps throughout the itinerary. We feature accommodations that are locally owned rather than international chains, including Amman, Wadi Rum, and the only community-owned hotel in Petra, which provide direct employment and sustains desert communities. The itinerary includes visits to historical sites such as Jerash's Roman ruins, Ajloun Castle, and traditional settings like the Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum, supporting local hospitality, artisans, and community enterprises. We run a workshop with a women's organization in Iraq Al-Amir, which directly supports cultural preservation and income-generating opportunities for women in rural areas. By prioritizing local businesses and community-run initiatives, we ensure that tourism profits remain within Jordanian communities and support sustainable development.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Our tours are community-led with 100% of guides, drivers, and local staff being from Jordan, with the majority from the specific regions visited. We actively create income-generating opportunities for local community members by employing Jordanian guides, supporting locally-owned accommodations, and contracting local transportation services. The trip is designed to be inclusive and respectful of Jordan's rich cultural diversity, with accommodations and activities that celebrate the country's multicultural heritage. Small group sizes and pre-trip guidance on customs ensure respectful, meaningful, and culturally enriching interactions between travelers and local communities. In Amman, meetings with grassroots organizations supporting refugees provide travelers direct insight into the humanitarian realities in Jordan and resilience of displaced communities and the communities hosting them, a perspective rarely found in mainstream tourism.
