The Hotel Das Cataratas, where 2 nights are spend, is spectacular situated inside the Brazilian National Park near the falls of Iguazu, and received in the year 2000 as the first Ecological Resort in Latin America their certification. Their four main activities consist of separated waste collection, conserving the natural water supplies & other resources, saving electricity and training of the team in ecological awareness.

On your travel in NW Argentina you will stay overnight in several indigenous communities, and your stay directly contributes to the economic development of the indigenous small villages in the Andes. The Argentinean people are aware that it is important to take care of their beautiful nature, as this is one of the main attractions for tourists coming to the Northwest, and tourism is becoming gradually more important in this area and provides income for the people on different levels. By staying overnight in some small hotels, eating in local restaurants, buying handicrafts, shop on markets and using services of local guides, as mentioned in the program. Local guides will also be a welcome source to give you all information about nature, culture and customs that you would like to know. When you visit National Parks your entrance fee contributes directly to the conservation of this park and/or archaeological site, and maintains employment for local communities as well.

Quite new is that local operators have started offering short treks with lamas, as in pre-Colombian times the indigenous people used to trek over large distances through the Andes. Participating in these treks support these initiatives in which local indigenous people regain their knowledge and cultural awareness, which was gradually wiped out during the Spanish conquest. The individual & travels are designed and offered by ecological guides who live in Latin America, and have been guiding in the Andes for many years. They offer the possibility to travel by horse or on foot through this part of NW Argentina, as they know just how unique & authentic this area and the lifestyle of the gauchos still is.

Their vision is to provide solidarity to the entire coffee community in the area, striving to improve the quality of the life of children and families of the coffee communities. Through their different programs the cooperative aspire to offer training technique in administration, management, accounting, among others and offer scholarships to students and subsidies to primary schools in rural coffee communities, as well as inspire to new forms of community economic organization.
