Sunrise over Fitzroy, but the whole vacation was amazing.

Don’t rely on being able to use an atm in Patagonia.Have lots of memory available on your camera/phone.

Yes. All the guides and transfer drivers were local. It was made clear that nothing was to be left behind while hiking.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Reaching the lakeside at Torre del Paine after the trek through the valley; exhausted but exhilarating. The small group bred a cameraderie that added to the wealth of experiences.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Build up your stamina. There is not much downtime in the two weeks.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Local guides were used throughout.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was very memorable. The hotels were a level below what we might have chosen for ourselves but we could never haver reached such locations or enjoyed
ourselves so much if not for the group experience.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet and people

We are committed to working in conjunction with local communities in all the countries in which we operate. We use locally owned services such as hotels and restaurants, paying a fair price for those services. We buy fresh local produce for all of our treks from markets and small shops in each departure town. In preference we choose local over imported goods and use public transport whenever possible and feasible.

On all our trekking tours we aim to minimize waste by using products with minimum packaging, leaving no litter and keeping all water sources clean, leaving camp sites cleaner than we find them.

In the UK office we use recyclable and recycled materials when possible. We recycle what we can and attempt to keep waste to an absolute minimum. We promote paper saving by using email as much as possible and by keeping unwanted mail to a minimum. We use low-energy light bulbs, fair-trade and biodegradable products where possible.

We are involved in on-going training of the staff we work with in the UK and in the Andes to ensure as high as possible standards of environmental care and responsible behaviour.

We are also now supporting the UK registered chairty Amantani. As this charity is very much in keeping with our ethos of small scale, targetted help which is educational & sustainabale. HuchuyYachaq is the other main Peruvian charity we support by paying a for a full time teacher. A % of all our income goes to support those projects.
