1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Stunning and often dramatic scenery, challenging but rewarding cycling, very friendly people, and delicious food.
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
This was our second cycle tour in Montenegro with this company. On this occasion we opted for road bikes, which given some of the long and challenging climbs, were a better option than heavier hybrid touring bikes. Despite it being mid May we did experience some unseasonable weather during the first few days with heavy rain and lower temperatures. Having checked the weather forecast before arrival, we were well prepared to cope with this. Base layers and wet weather clothing were certainly put to good use. Although our average daily cycling distance was 60km, the first four days featured some challenging and often long climbs. For this reason, we would not recommend this tour to inexperienced cyclists unless having good overall fitness level or opting for an e-bike. Apart from a couple of short climbs on day 5, it and day 6 are generally easy cycling days. We took and used our own pedals and cleated cycling shoes which were certainly beneficial on the climbs.
We received excellent information and advice from Draen, our tour contact, at our welcome meeting where he explained what to expect on each stage, fully preparing us for all eventualities. Route directions and maps were comprehensive. GPX files for each route were forwarded on request prior to departure. This allowed them to be fully reviewed in advance. Particularly helpful was that each GPX route took us directly to our overnight accommodation, so we did not have any problems locating that on arrival in a new destination.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Being a cycling vacation ensures there is limited environmental impact. We used local restaurants, shops, and services throughout our trip. Much appreciated were the restaurant recommendations included in our itinerary. These did not not disappoint.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We experienced another great cycle tour organised. Communication was excellent from our initial inquiry until the end of the trip. Boris who dealt with our booking was responsive to all our requests and even adapted the itinerary to incorporate two rides into one day.
Throughout the tour our contact, Draen, was excellent. For example, at the end of day one, we were advised by our accommodation host that our route through Durmitor National Park was blocked due to snow. We immediately contacted Draen, who that evening, organised an alternative route, provided a GPX file to upload on to a Garmin for navigation purposes and on arrival at a new destination arranged a transfer to Pluzine our intended destination for that day.
We would certainly have no concerns booking another cycling vacation with them and we would highly recommend the service and support they provide.
Cycle touring is a great way to experience all Montenegro has to offer.

Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Most of our tours include the five National parks of Montenegro. Each of them features unique environments and rich ecological values, which require corresponding attitude from visitors. Lake Skadar, the biggest lake at the Balkan peninsula features a very rich bird fauna. On our multi-activity we offer bird watching with kayaks. These tours are guided by bird protection activists, who are supported by our programms. We avoid using off-road jeep transfers, since some areas do have a very fragile soil surface. Anyhow we believe in the first line that our feet - or pedal power - can take us everywhere.
Cycling is thirsty work and we encourage our guests to use re-fillable water bottles, since tab water is drinkable in Montenegro.
In order to avoid empty transfer kilometers we cooperate with transport providers, who are closest to a starting or pick up point of our tours. We include public transport in our tours where applicable. Eg. transfer by train form the coastline to the north of Montenegro saves 115km on the road.
In general we use almost no printed marketing material. To present our company and products we use tablets. The design works for our website is done by local creatives.
People
We include as many local people as possible on our tours and we hope to build a bridge between visitors and locals and create better understanding for all day life challenges in Montenegro. Even though there is most of the time a huge language barrier, both sides enjoy the direct interactionWe highly value the knowledge and work of our business partners, who we consider as friends. Our local guides are usually recruited from the Northern parts of Montenegro, since this part of the country provides little opportunities for employment.
Food & produce: an integral part of real understanding and enjoyment of a region or country is eating the local food.
This ensures that the local producers see how valuable their produce is, in terms of keeping farming traditions alive, which on one side ensures a maintained landscape, and on the other side the base for rural tourism. We encourage our guests to buy local produce for souvenirs eg. home made Rakija (spirit), honey products, artisan wines, olive oil products, etc.
We cooperate with farmer communities, and we take our guests to visit them where possible which is a special experience. In return for the interest in their lifestyle, the generated additional income contributes to sustaining the livelihoods of the farmers, allowing people to stay up in the mountains producing traditional dairy products and maintaining the landscape.
