Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Local materials, local craftsmen and recycled products are all used wherever possible. This in turn helps to keep local businesses thriving and much more willing to practice a more sympathetic approach to their environment.
Our safari ground agents choose their guides with utmost care because these are the people who will be showing you the incredible sights of the National Parks and helping to protect and care for this environment for generations to come. On average, guides have 12 years of experience leading safari travelers. The most experienced guides train our newer guides and all are certified and receive on-going training and education.
When you travel with us you know that you are traveling with a company that respects the people, the places and the wildlife you came to see in the first place. We believe that tourism should be sustainable – and not just in the narrow economic sense. On our tours we engage local businesses and employ local people, and we are more likely to accommodate our guests in small boutique hotels than large chain hotels that do little to benefit local economies.
The Impacts of this Trip
Each of the hotels and lodges you stay at on this trip are part of the Elewana Collection. This group works closely with local community projects including local orphanages and charities and each hotel has its own unique cause it supports. Elewana means ‘harmony’ and ‘understanding’ in kiswahlili and these are the principles it adheres to.
For example Arusha Coffee Lodge works closely with the local community and employs and trains local people. Guests staying at Arusha can donate (if they wish) to these local charities, safe in the knowledge that the money goes straight to where it is needed, with no third parties involved.
Similarly, our safari ground agents endeavour to improve the quality of life for children in need: through multiple services and projects, focusing particularly on children in extreme poverty. They are striving to reduce the illness, child mortality, provide educational opportunities including free education and support community development. Their goal is a normal life for all the children in their community, free from poverty and illness.
