We advise our tourists to respect animals' space and habitats. We know tourists get excited when they spot a pride of lions for the first time, but we advise them to try and express such excitement quietly. One would especially want to tone it down and remain at a safe distance when a predator is on a hunt or eating a kill, a mother has a young animal beside her, or a lone male lion or buffalo is near. By doing this we are protecting the wild.

We encourage you to support the local economy by purchasing genuine handcrafted items at markets, villages, and small gift shops, such as baskets, cotton fabrics, wood carvings, ceramics, and jewelry. By purchasing these goods, you contribute to the local economy and the means of livelihood of the local craftsmen. The Masai communities and Jinja town are two of the best locations to purchase souvenirs.

We also suggest you try new things and dine at local restaurants. This will give you a more genuine vacation experience besides supporting the local economy. Try some Ugandan delicacies like "luwombo"—a dish cooked with matooke and your choice of ground beef, chicken, or groundnut sauce. We also recommend purchasing tasty foods from roadside vendors like roasted corn, barbecued beef, bananas, pineapples, and other fruits.

The lodges where you stay offer local people near conservation areas chances for sustainable development. A notable effort is Basecamp Explorer's Naboisho project in Kenya which seeks to preserve the Masai Mara's sociocultural legacy and ecology while generating money and providing jobs for the local community.

During the Gorilla Trekking, we encourage our tourists who cannot carry their bags or cant trek long distances to seek the help of porters. These are mainly local people that are energetic enough to manage these tasks. These porters are given payment at the end of the trek and thus supporting their well being.
