As travelers increasingly seek sustainable experiences, this itinerary prioritizes eco-friendly practices that contribute to carbon reductions. The trip begins with a walking tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter, where visitors can explore on foot, minimizing reliance on motorized transport. Local transportation, such as shared vehicles or electric options, further reduces carbon footprints. The journey through Ba Vi National Park emphasizes trekking, allowing participants to connect with nature while minimizing environmental impact. This is evident during the trek to Tan Vien Peak, where visitors engage in responsible hiking practices, such as staying on marked trails and respecting wildlife habitats. Additionally, the cruise in Bai Tu Long Bay features eco-conscious operators that prioritize sustainability, using traditional wooden junks designed to have a minimal environmental impact. Efforts like these not only showcase the natural beauty of Vietnam but also emphasize the importance of preserving these environments for future generations.

This tour provides multiple opportunities to engage with Vietnam’s rich natural environment and wildlife. The Ba Vi National Park trek, where you can encounter thousand-year-old Old Green Cypresses and observe diverse species of birds and reptiles, emphasizes biodiversity. Participants learn about the local ecosystem and conservation efforts during visits to the Political Prison, a historic site amidst lush greenery. In Bai Tu Long Bay, the chance to kayak and explore the floating fishing village of Vung Vieng offers a unique perspective on sustainable fishing practices and the delicate balance of life on the water. Engaging with local fishermen during the "From Farmer to Fisherman" tour, travelers will witness traditional fishing methods while learning about the environmental challenges faced by the community. This connection to nature not only enhances the travel experience but also fosters awareness and respect for the unique ecosystems of Vietnam.

Whenever possible we work with accommodation providers whose policies reflect a priority on environmental sustainability – for this tour we are happy to be using a hotel in Siem Reap with a firm policy against single-use plastic bottles, using glass instead. We are currently working with our transport providers here in Vietnam to supply drinking water tanks in all vehicles to support our travelers using refillable bottles.

Both our offices in Vietnam are participating refill stations in the RefillMyBottle (https://refillmybottle.com) program, offering a feasible alternative to the ubiquitous plastic bottles which are such a big part of the litter problem in our region.

In Hanoi, travelers are guided by local experts who share their knowledge about the city's rich history and culture. The walking tour of the Old Quarter not only allows for cultural immersion but also encourages visitors to shop at local artisan shops, promoting the craft industry. In Ba Trai Village, participants engage with local tea producers, learning the intricate process of tea-making. This hands-on experience not only provides economic support to the village but also helps sustain traditional practices. While cycling through the countryside in Hoi An, tourists contribute to the local economy by purchasing produce from farmers or enjoying meals at family-run restaurants, ensuring that the profits remain within the community.

As a local tour company in Vietnam, we well understand that tourism growth does not automatically translate into increased opportunity for local people.

As a result, we work hard to ensure that our tours play a part in putting tourism income into the hands of local people. In order to accomplish this, we place a strong emphasis on:
- Employing local guides, who have the best knowledge of and insight into the local communities we visit, and can best connect visitors with local people. On this tour, as on all our tours, you will have a different guide in each region, as all our guides specialize in the area of their expertise.

- Cooperating with other locally run suppliers, such as local artisan cooperatives which we rely on to provide authentic traditional gifts for travelers. We also use locally-run restaurants when quality options are available, as well as charity association restaurants, such as Hoa Sua or Koto in Hanoi, which provide invaluable vocational training for disadvantaged local youth.

We are an active member of The Responsible Travel Club of Vietnam (RTC) and adhere to the RTC programme and policy to support locals.

In Hoi An, the lantern-making class not only provides a hands-on cultural experience but also promotes local artisans' crafts, allowing visitors to take home a piece of Hoi An's artistic tradition.
