As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetIt is safe to drink the water from the tap in America. For customers keen to avoid buying single use plastic bottles, we encourage them to take advantage of our discounted filter Water-To-Go bottle which removes over 99.9% of all microbiological contaminants in water. This avoids single sue plastic going into landfill.
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in all the national parks and monuments we visit in America; our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to customers. As the focus of this trip is primarily walking, we aim to leave a minimal impact on the areas as possible.
The focus of this trip is primarily sightseeing and walking, we aim to leave minimal impact. This includes sticking to the trails to avoid upsetting the delicate balance for plants and animals as well as cryptobiotic soil, as well as not feeding wildlife as they become reliant on tourists, plus maintaining a safe and respectful distance from wildlife.
Given most of the time is spent exploring on foot, the trip itself is low carbon. We are committed to offering low impact vacations that benefit the country and communities we visit. Given most of the time is spent exploring on foot, it is important that our staff and customers are aware of the delicate balance which exists in the places we visit and leave no trace.
PeopleOn this hotel we specifically search out hotels which are owned and operated by Americans, plus have an active waste management process in place.
Breakfast are taken at the hotels whereas we try to use as many local restaurants as possible for the lunches and dinners. This helps to spread tourist dollars throughout the communities we pass through.
We offer millions of pounds sterling in financial aid to walking groups within the UK to maintain walking by young and old for future generations, rebuild broken paths and bridges washed away. This falls under an organisation called the Charitable Trust.
We cap passengers at a maximum of 13 customers so as not to impact on the environment within the national parks, especially as we explore on foot. We aim not to upset animals within the area, and not damage paths. Local services and businesses will be supported as much as possible on this trip.
